Nick's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Clive

Not worth the price.

I ordered the carbonara and had them add shrimp. They charged $6 and gave me 5 medium-sized grilled shrimps on top of mediocre pasta that barely had any bacon or mushrooms (the selling point of the dish) with sauce that tasted like unseasoned flour. I also had the clam chowder which had no evidence of clams at all and was about 40% potato with one piece of imitation crab meat in it.

The bread rolls were so hard on the outside we couldn't even cut into them with the knives they provided, and the inside was so soft by the time we broke the rolls they were smashed on the inside.

My mother has food allergies and I told the server exactly what seasoning to put on her order of white fish, but the fish came out with seasoning she was allergic to and had to be remade. For reference the seasoning was salt, pepper, lemon, and garlic. Not exactly rocket science. The fish was rubbery and overcooked apart from being over seasoned even for someone who doesn't have allergies, and the second piece was rubbery on the thinner parts and undercooked on the thicker parts.

The server tried very hard to make the experience better but honestly we won't be returning and I don't recommend this...

Nick’s Bar & Grill used to be one of my absolute favorite places to go for dinner. Great service, steaks always cooked right etc.

NOT ANYMORE. Went at 5ish tonight. Got greeted and seated right away. From there it was all downhill

Ordered Onion Rings for an appetizer. Undercooked and very greasy. Ok. No big deal.

I ordered the Ribeye medium rare, my wife ordered the salmon. Both ordered mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Meal comes out. I add a pat of butter to my potatoes and it doesn’t melt (butter wasn’t hard either) potatoes were barely warm. My steak looked like a steak from Bonanza and was easily medium well. Waitress was MIA from before I’d cut my steak until midway through meal. By then it’s too late.

My wife’s Salmon came out hot but really bland.

And then the final insult. Went to use our gift card (they don’t expire unless clearly stated). “Oh, that’s one of the old cards, we changed systems and can’t verify”. There’s $75.00 on the card.

Oh good, so now Nick’s got paid for a crappy meal twice?!

I didn’t even finish my steak. It was that bad.

This is a review written by a good friend of mine. Thought I'd share, especially since the owner seems to be making a name for himself as a complete jerk. Too bad his parents weren't able to teach him any character or respect. They must be sad... now to tell the world the truth about "Dick's Bar and Grill"... I went to nicks bar and grill across from Valley west mall last Friday the 4th to eat lunch and received horrible service. I found a hard object in my food that resembles a tooth in my pasta as I took a bite. I immediately get grossed out and feel like I am going to get sick. I tell this woman who claimed to be a manager and she takes it and tells me it is garlic. She then took it to the kitchen and ate it she said. Really???? You ate something that was in a customer's mouth? How repulsive. She told me they put real ingredients in there food as if I was lying about the object in question. I should have taken it but was truly sick at this point.
