Don Maria's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Clovis

Hadn't been in a while, and food and service were not the same as I remembered. Food lacked flavor, and drinks went empty for a while before being asked for refills. Also, I am not appreciative of paying a businesses excessive fees for debit/credit card use. If they're unwilling to pay their own fees, why offer the service? When I had a business, everyone paid the same and I covered extra fees. The loss was hardly felt, as it was less than 3 cents per dollar...same as is currently charged by Square and other companies that offer the service. This is a convenience to have any credited monies transferred to your business account. Many of these local businesses are charging 4 cents per dollar charged...and we're asked to shop locally? I haven't seen these charges when I travel, but I do see them often in this area (Clovis/Portales). Absolutely horrible service. I ordered two plates from the menu, one was priced as 6.89, the other 8.39. when I got my receipt, the prices were 7.99 and 8.99. I asked them about the discrepancy and was told "well we've upped our prices. I can give you a new menu if you want" When I got home and opened my meal, the items were incorrect, the receipt was correct but the food was prepared wrong. I called back about it and was told they would need me to bring back the food so they could verify that I wasn't lying. I explained that I had to leave to work in 30 minutes and didn't have time to run back and forth. The manager said the most she could do was give me a discount on my next purchase if I show them a picture of my food and receipt to prove it was wrong. She even remembered the car I was driving so I'm sure she knew they messed up and just didn't care. They probably won't even give me more than 10% discount. Just...

Super crowded! On a first visit, you may fine this place to be disorganized since you seat yourself. We had a big party and ended up at a tiny table. No big deal. As for our order, it took a long time to come out then it was missing many parts from each person’s. When we finally got our sides they were completely wrong. Hash browns were flavorless, poach eggs were fried egg with the flavor of an unwashed cast iron pan. I was really disappointed base on the rating but I give it a three star because the chips, queso and salsa were very good. I think that the Mexican food would be delicious but the American breakfast items were gross. I will definitely give them another chance to Wow me with their Mexican food.
