I’ve been coming to cooper’s hawk for years now me and my partner were so torn when the galleria location closed everyone there was like family, kitchen was on point, staff was always on their toes. We finally decided to give this location a try in coconut creek we drove out on a 45 minute drive with excitement to have all our favorite foods again! Unfortunately we will never be returning to this location. Upon arrival the manager was super friendly and sat us at our table we explained to him that it was our first time. Our server lacked common decency.. We made it at 2:40 just in time to order off the lunch special the server dropped down waters and pretzel bread 15 minutes went by and i watched her re stock plates fill up a lemonade jug and do all her running sidework with no interest in her guests waving her down or watching her every move filled with anxiousness just trying to put in order in on time.. going out and having to wait on your waiter is always the worst feeling especially when you’ve been in the industry for over a decade. Anyways after 20 minutes of just sitting there we decided to just get up and head over to the bar because we felt so neglected and uncared for. The bartender was awesome and super sweet at the end of our time she brought out two truffles and a candle for my birthday a super sweet gesture i wish i got her name she was a red hed i hope you guys can give her a pat on the back for saving the day. All of our food quality was horrible our salad came out soggy it was the worst and the salad from coopers are always top tier next we got the pot stickers they were cold and hard as if they were just sitting there for so long in the window. We were already so disappointed we didn’t wanna complain or send back any food, when our entrees arrived another server came over to the bar and was complaining about her guests to another bar guest super loud and obnoxiously at the next chair over it was right in our ear i get it i have bad guests sometimes we all rant but save that for the BOH not FOH right in front of guests it’s just tacky and a horrible look not only did she tell the guests next to use but she couldn’t let it go she told over 3 different employees in the span of 5 minutes about her guests from hell everything about this location was a disappointment. Not to mention the bartender wasn’t receiving any help from management he seemed like he was strolling through saturn just starting out the window while she knocked out service drinks and ran back and forth from the kitchen to get us our food at every location i’ve been at the managers work just as hard as their staff. Just when things couldn’t get any worse i pulled a long piece of hair that was cooked into my chicken i was disgusted i just wanted to get the check and leave the same astronaut manager finally checked back in from outer space and came over and apologized for the food and took it off the bill didn’t offer anything else to compensate my wife stopped eating her meal as well because why would she continue he however only took my meal off. what really threw me off was how didn’t you notice we relocated all on our own from the table you sat us at all the bar to uncomfortable bar stools because of your incompetent servers. Everyone just lacked Attentiveness. Thanks cooper’s hawk we miss...
Read moreI’ve been a wine club member for over two years and frequented the Fort Lauderdale Galleria mall location, which was absolutely beautiful- not to mention, had some of the nicest, most friendly folks working at the wine bar. Sadly, Coopers Hawk shut that location down, and I had the unfortunate experience of driving to Coconut Creek last night. The wine bar was overrun with people who apparently think it’s a place to hang out and chitchat not taste wine. I arrived at 6:55 PM with my friend and after waiting 45 minutes hoping someone would move, finish, slide over or something, we decided to go to world of beers to get a cocktail. When we left, there were several other parties waiting who came in after me, but were weaseling their way in front of me. It kinda like waiting for that parking spot at Christmas. You just know it’s gonna be a problem when somebody slides in in front of you or you slide in in front of them… and no one cared how long you were waiting if they were closest to the place that spot opened up, they just slid in. That’s not what I’m looking for on a Friday night when having dinner with a friend We came back at 8:30 for dinner reservations and the same people were still drinking, 1.5 hours later. When we left dinner at 10:45, there were still some of the SAME folks at the Wine bar who had been there since 730. I asked if Saturday nights were better and was told that they are worse. So it seems like to use my wine club tastings I might have to go on a Monday at lunch while I’m working or something??? I’ll give the Dania point location to try but if it’s a similar experience, I’ll be canceling my wine membership. I don’t know if it’s possible to put a 30 to 45 minute time limit on winetasting on busy nights so that all patrons can enjoy wine. Or, have some sort of number system when you arrive to prevent this jockeying to get to the Wine bar amongst customers. Most of the people were just talking and chitchatting with glasses sitting empty for a while before they decided on their next selection. That’s not the fault of management but it’s unfortunate the mgt. Has no system in place to manage this… and that company closed the Premier location at Galleria mall which was larger. The dining room at Coconut Creek is lit up like a Christmas tree. I feel like I’m eating at a TGI Fridays. There’s some bright light pointing down at the tables that is blinding. . It’s definitely not the upscale experience that I became accustomed to at Galleria mall. At dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine and the waitress brought two piping HOT wine glasses to our table because the restaurant is so busy they can’t keep up or don’t have enough wine glasses. I don’t know…. but you can’t pour wine into piping hot wine glasses that we could barely pick up. So we poured our cold water into the piping hot glasses to cool them while the waitress was saying they’re going to crack they’re gonna crack- Fortunately, they didn’t crack, but I’m not going to drink wine out of piping hot wine glass. Our waitress was very nice. Don’t get me wrong. She was just unfortunately working in a very hectic environment. Order more glasses!!! Food was good.
PLEASE, Coopers Hawk, find a location in east Fort Lauderdale and open another restaurant to replace the Galleria...
Read moreThis review is useful for anyone who is thinking about hosting an event at this Cooper’s Hawk location.
Short version: Mediocre event management staff prior to event, but great execution, day-of staff and food. Would host again.
I was in touch with Logan, the event manager, to book and plan my event in the Barrel room. I signed our contract in June 2021. Here are some things to note in the contract that you might not see unless you actually study it or ask questions like I did: Table linens are not included, napkins not included unless they’re black. These must be rented for an additional cost (at $13.50-16.5 per linen, $1 per napkin. Pro tip, you can buy linens for $9 or less at tableclothsfactory.com). Additionally, this is not stated in the contract, but I was told, only 2 weeks before the event, that we had a limit of 11 tables to use (and one long table = 2 square tables). This makes no sense since each round table seats 6 guests, at a max capacity of 42 you’d need 7 tables, leaving you with 2 long tables (4x2 square tables) for decor/gifts/favors. Not only that, we ended up bringing two of our own long tables, and the staff asked us to make space on it for them to hold their wine during our event. Not the wait staffs fault since they need space but poor planning on management side.
Food and wine options have to be finalized 7 days before the event. I e-mailed my options 8 days before the event. 6 days before the event, I received an e-mail from Logan stating their menu options have changed, and they no longer offer the wine package that was available when I signed the contract. They would not honor the original price, which was less expensive, noting that the contract states “pricing may change at any time.” What’s the point of a contract, then? If CH increased their room minimum from $1000 to $20,000 I’d also be obliged to conform to that since the contract states “pricing may change at any time?” Additionally, if pricing changed fine, but you’d think they’d notify you sooner than 6 days before the event, and 1 day after your menu/drink options were due. I would have preferred to not have to have paid more, however they did provide extra champagne to our guests due to this issue.
Day of, I was not told that my contact person, Logan, would not be present. When we showed up, I went to the counter to ask if I needed to check in or who I should speak with, and the front desk responded with “nope!” So we went on our way to start decorating the room. We did eventually meet someone named Lisa (didn’t mention her role so, unclear), and our fabulous wait staff: Gabe, Rob, and Jeff. From there on out, our three waiters made the event phenomenal. They went above and beyond in all aspects to help make our event a success.
I’ll also say that my friend is in the process of planning her event she booked with the CH in PBG, and there’s also similar issues (after she signed the contract the event manager told her sorry they aren’t taking new bookings then had to jump through hoops to figure out that she’s still booked).
Overall, if you want to host an event here, it’s a great option. Food is wonderful, wine is delicious, wait staff is awesome. You’ll have a few hiccups along the way but the event...
