Ethos meaning character in Greek is a restaurant located in the outdoor shopping center, The Promenade in Coconut Creek. Restaurants open and close quickly in this shopping center but owner and restaurateur George Pappas has managed to consistently deliver good food and service and Ethos has managed to stand the test of time since 2012. They also have a location in Wilton Manors.
My friend was visiting from out of town and I really wanted her to enjoy dinner. I gave her several options to pick from in the Promenade and with her great taste she chose the best one. It has been a few years since I have been here but it is as nice as I remembered. We opted to sit outside on the beautiful patio sidewalk but the inside is nicely appointed with dark wood tables and a bar lining the back wall. It is classier than your typical blue and white aesthetic that you find at most Greek restaurants.
We started with cocktails of course. After giving them a few directions on how we wanted them made, I was served a perfect thirst quenching Coconut Freak made with Bacardi Coconut Rum. pineapple juice, and coconut puree. In addition to the signature cocktails they have a comprehensive wine menu.
For our meal we decided on the Silver Taste of Ethos which requires a minimum of two people ($32 per person). It is a great way to get a bit of everything and really sample the menu. We started with the spread sampler which includes four dips: a tangy tzatziki, hummus, zesty creamy feta, and sriracha tzatziki. The dips were served with the most heavenly hot pita. Along with the dips were two of the tasty dolmades, traditional stuffed grape leaves which the staff hand rolls over 60,000 a year. Next up was a fresh and crisp Greek salad studded with creamy, salty feta. The star of the meal was the grilled meat platter that included spinach rice, potatoes, gyro, grilled chicken, and kefte. It was so much food, more than we could finish and we each left with a takeout box. Desserts are made in house but we were too full.
We were constantly checked on throughout the meal by our server but also by two managers. You could not have asked for more attentive service. Ethos puts out food that is healthful, fresh, and tasty, coupled with good service at a fair price. It was the perfect place to catch up with my friend on a lovely South Florida...
Read moreEthos is such a staple in our family. I haven’t been here for two years and coming back the quality of the food is the same! We also used a gift card that we had gotten as a date night gift for the holidays.
For appetizers we tried something new which was the croquettes they were surprisingly very flavorful I would recommend adding a little lemon drizzle on top it just brings out the flavor of the octopus and the cream in the middle.
Our all time fav is the shrimp sagnioki (not trying to butcher it) I do think I took too much ricotta cheese which might’ve made it a bit salty. I do enjoy the garlic and tomato.
My husband had the Lamb Chops as his main course which blew my salmon out the water lol I did take it home for the next day and I will say my salmon was tastier than when I first tried it at the restaurant.
The atmosphere for dinner is always warming and makes you just want to be close with your loved ones. I did also appreciate the manager for his accommodations, he moved us to a more comfy table as my husband is pretty tall and a two seat just squishes us.
To finish off the meal we had the cheesecake and cappuccino which paired together for a final treat!
I would also suggest having pitas on the side which made all of it taste even better as they drizzle a tasty olive oil and herb on it that just pairs with all the dishes.
The wait is also never too long here. But I will say we would have ordered drinks but they did not have Woodford Reserve and our waiter seemed...
Read moreI visited the Coconut Creek Ethos for the first time yesterday afternoon and I can't wait to return. The host was immediately welcoming and pleasant as I discovered all of the other staff would be. I opted for the cozy outdoor seating. Although it's in the midst of a shopping center, the seating allows the diner to feel shut off from the bustle. Not long after I started in on my amazing Island mocktail and tasty watermelon salad, it began to rain. Before I attempted to maneuver my salad and belongings indoors, one of the staff ushered me inside under her huge umbrella. The staff's attentiveness in this semi-casual dining spot is unbelievable. Now at the bar, my server and the manager apologized for the inconvenience of "losing" my table (all the inside tables were taken at this point). However, I didn't feel this was a step down. The bar area was comfortable. Mostly because the bartender was extremely affable and adept at making awesome mocktails. My shrimp castella was filled with good-sized shrimp and prepared with a balanced flavor. Did I mention that the menu is diverse, offering everything from small plates to generous platters? I took home the grilled chicken platter and my husband loved it. The Ethos business ethic, atmosphere, pricing, and fresh, healthy dishes are a refreshing change. A great product and...
