Went To Truli this evening and was seriously disappointed with the service, staff, and quality of food. We had 1 server, two people running food, and one clearing the plates. We ordered the calamari to start, priced at $18 you would think that there would be more than 5 pieces on the very large plate that was delivered to our table. I asked our server if this was the usual portion size as our mains were priced at about $20 each and if they were anything like the appetizers we would be leaving hungry. He sent the manager over to us who explained that the fish is weighed and that is the correct portion, I said okay and that it wasn't a problem. 5 minutes later the table behind us also contacted the manager about the calamari as well. When it was time for our mains to arrive the runner put my pasta in front of me and i asked him to confirm it was gluten free. He said he would check, upon him leaving the table i noticed that there were 3 types of pasta all mixed together. He came back and said it was not gluten free and that i should talk to the server. Our server had not been around since he took our orders at the beginning of the evening, he was definitely avoiding us as i could see him through the window ( we sat on the patio) I opted to go inside and talk to him since the rest of the table had their meals and i was sitting in front of the wrong meal and it was clear he was not coming outside to check on us. I told him the pasta wasn't gluten free and he said he didn't order gluten free because he didn't hear me say it. At this point i was at a loss for what to do since no one was being proactive with solutions. There were two managers there, the same one from the calamari incident. They were staring at the plate of pasta i brought them trying to decipher what was wrong with it, it was confusing talking to so many people that at this point i had lost my appetite and my table was almost finished eating. I told them not to bother with it and that i didn't want it re-made. We were getting ready to leave and the manager dropped off the pasta wrapped up for me to take home- complimentary, which was a nice thought. Then the server came around and told us he comped our calamari. We then paid the bill -cash to the manager, and then the server nearly chased us out the restaurant because he thought we were skipping out on the bill. Hopefully this paints a clear picture of our evening, it was chaotic and disorganized, there were too many people taking care of each table that nothing was clear, the food was mediocre if that, the pasta i was given to take home ( GF penne) was inedible it was mushy and tasted like it had canned pasta sauce on it, i would not recommend GF at Truli. Everyone else's meals were worth max a 2 star rating, the portions of them were all over the place. 2 people got chicken, one was the size of your palm the other the size of the plate. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant for ambiance,...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I live in the area and we’ve tried every restaurant in the promenade and decided to come here. This place is horrendous. Don’t come here. Service 0 stars. Food 0 stars. Ambiance 1 star. This is not real Italian food …almost all of their wines are from California. And the wine flight is served in 4 ….shot glasses? I felt like I was in college again drinking wine from a shot glass. All of the wines in the red flight tasted the same.
Our server was sweet at best, but she had no clue what she was doing. She didn’t know what wines came in the flight. I asked what dressings they had for the salad, she said “pink vodka sauce” which is quite literally a pasta sauce, not a salad dressing. I asked for my salad to come out before my main dish- the salad and the main dish came out at the same time so I ate my salad while my main dish got cold.
My boyfriend ordered the rigatoni with Alfredo sauce, and he didn’t like it. he’s a picky eater- so him not liking a dish wasn’t unsurprising. What was so frustrating is that after our dishes came out, our server never came back to the table to ask how our food tasted. She was standing in the front of the restaurant talking and laughing with other employees, ignoring us. We finally got her attention by waving her down, and my boyfriend was able to order something nice else off the menu.
At this point I was visibly upset, and the manager came over. She offered to comp some of our meal- which was appreciated but too little too late. I wish this was the end of our bad experience here. Sadly, it’s not. The last thing I ordered was an espresso martini, which is my favorite drink. I’m not sure what they served me, but it was not an espresso martini. It tasted like all the ingredients (liqueur, vodka) that go in an espresso martini -without any espresso. It was very bad. There are plenty of other restaurants in the promenade, we won’t be...
Read moreReview of a new restaurant. Does bad service follow me or what. I am not asking for much. I will explain.
I see my dad each week and we try different restaurants and today we tried “Italian Truli Food and Drink” in Coconut Creek.
Beautiful looking restaurant with large mirrors on the walls and high ceilings and the food was good but the service was awful.
The restaurant had 6 people at 1230pm and 1 waiter. We were escorted to our table and handed menus by the hostess and said our waiter would be by. He walked pass our tables 2 times and finally I called him over. We ordered; my dad ordered a chopped salad and I ordered a panini sandwich and fries. The fryer was broken so I picked a Caesar salad. And we ordered 2 diet cokes. He brings the cokes and will are waiting and waiting for our salads. There were two woman behind us that came in after us and the waiter brings their food and drinks and passes our table 4 times with nothing for us. I stopped the waiter and said where is our food. He brings my dads salad and not my salad. I say please bring my salad. 15 minutes goes by and he is spending more time with the table behind us. I say where is my panini and he says I was waiting till you finished your salad. My dads salad was his meal and my salad was a side but he would have stopped and asked and communicated with me if I wanted my meal with salad.
Poor communication. We usually go to the Greek Restaurant nearby but wanted to try this place. Greek Restaurant we are treated like part of the family.
We then ordered dessert and asked the waiter what is good and he didn’t know never tasted any of the desserts. He had been there 2 months. Part of doing your job is to learn about the menu.
I went and spoke to the manager and he was happy that I expressed my concerns and will take care of it and personally said the next time I come he will assure this will not...
