Update 3/28/2023: went to The Fish Joint for dinner. Ordered fish tacos with corn, fried fish and chips, mahi platter with veggies and cajun rice, clam chowder, and the smoked fish dip. The fish dip was amazing, served with pickled jalapenos and tortilla chips: only criticism is I wish they served with club crackers instead of tortilla chips. The fish tacos were HUGE. Pico de Gallo was fresh and yummy. Next time, I'll order the tacos with mahi instead of fried cod as it was difficult to eat the fish piece was so large. The fries and corn were amazing. The Mahi platter was also impressive as the fish was cooked perfectly. The vegetable medley side was outstanding because it was obvious the broccoli and carrots were not frozen. Seasoned really nicely and also cooked to perfection with a slight bite to them. The clam chowder was great. Not too thick and had the most tender clams I've ever had in a clam chowder. They were not rubbery at all which is a huge plus as most places serve chowder that's been over cooked.
I live in CT and always look forward to coming to The Fish Joint when I am down in Coconut Creek. Kudos to Sebastian for his customer service and ability to cook seafood with thoughtfulness. It's obvious The Fish Joint knows what they are doing and are preparing their menu with intention. Everything was cooked properly and was fresh.
Review from December 2022: Fish sticks were quite good and the tartar sauce was clearly homemade and super yummy. Caesar salad was also very tasty and a nice portion. The shrimp boil, unfortunately, was subpar. The clams they use are all pasta necks (tiny), which in my opinion, are not the right sized clam for a boil. There were also only 4 clams total. I ordered mussels as an add on and there was plenty of mussels, but they were awfully spongy and way overcooked. The shrimp were decently sized and tasted fresh- a stand out part of the boil. I wish there had been a few more pieces of sausages. The corn was fresh and good. The potatoes were just fine. The lobster tail was medium to large and good, but also tasted like it had been frozen. Overall, my meal was good and I would continue to order from...

Super Delish...
My friend was raving about this place, she wanted to go, sadly I already ate earlier so wasn't hungry. Told her I would accompany her anyway. She ordered fish and chips and said the hush puppies were AMAZING and asked if I wanted to order a basket. I said ill just steal 1 of hers from her meal. She said it only came with 2 and she didn't want to share, which is why she suggested ordering an seperate basket. They were good, the remoulade sauce was super yum. The sauce definitely brought it up a notch. She insisted I try a bite of everything on her fish and chips platter. The fish, chops and coleslaw.
Let me tell you, the fish was a very nice portion and not overly breaded..the filet of cod very flaky and thick. Fried * Golden Brown Delicious!! * Most fish and chip places are stingy with the battered filets...This place serves a nice hunk of cod which is not heavily battered. 10 out of 10 for that reason alone!!!
The chips are actual pieces of potatoes VERY WELL fried... not overly fried. (which I can't stand) The edges a GBD (IYKYK, look at fish description for the acronym) ......and the center was nice tender well cooked potato.
The coleslaw nice and creamy, with a crisp bite. Not soggy like most places. Very good fresh coleslaw.
The service was great. Smiling and helpful employees behind the counter. A young blonde female checked on us often and was sweet. The place was busy for a Tuesday, dining in and there were more customers who had to go orders. The decor and clever wall art is eye catching, funny and very clean. Looking forward to coming back with an appetite.
Bonus that its a local business which I rather support than a national corporate chain. This place is a hidden gem. Check it out, especially if you like fresh delish food in a clean...
Read moreWe have been trying to go to this spot forever now. Usually on a Sundays, but they are "gone fishing" on Sundays :) We finally got in on a Saturday, and it was quiet. Ambiance wise, long boards and skateboards decorated the walls. Minimal feeling but just enough to tell you that the owner has a very ocean and outdoor lifestyle.
This is a walk-up and order type establishment. The food was good. The service was outstanding. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and about the restaurants history. Loved hearing the stories.
Blackened Snapper - Had this with fresh veggies and coleslaw. Came with 2 hushpuppies that were small. 1 less star bc the snapper was watery. The more we cut in, the more water came out. It should have been more crispy and blackened. It made us believe it was possibly frozen and didn't have time to defrost before frying up. It was a great piece of fish. However, it was swimming in juices/water, so it was not pleasant to eat.
Fried Shrimp Po-boy - Fantsastic!!! Delicious flavors and perfectly made. The batter around the shrimp had a tasty seasoning, and the entire hoagie experience was delightful. 10/10 for this entire dish.
French Fries - Heyooo!!! These were hand sliced pieces of potatoes fried up and soooo delicious!!!! We were all obsessed with these bc they seemed to be peeled by hand and just so fun to eat. Perfectly fried. The details matter. 10/10 get extra fries...
