Where to start..if I could give zero stars I would. If you’re looking to go to a restaurant/bar just for conversation this is the place for you! My bf and I arrived and we were seated without a menu and had to grab the servers attention to get a menu. We ordered all of our food at once, the drinks, appetizer, and entree. My “sandwich” and his burger had the option of tater tots, fries, salad, or onion rings. None of these options were given to us. We had to flag down our server to let her know I wanted onion rings and he wanted tater tots. Our drinks arrived at least 30 minutes after we sat down, one was a simple mixed drink and the other was a watered down lemonade. We weren’t given any waters like the rest of the tables around us nor were we given any update that our food was going to take an hour to get to our table. When the food finally arrived it was all wrong. The burger my bf ordered did not have any chili on it as requested and I was given a Cajun wrap instead of a Cajun sandwich. When we told our server about my sandwich her response was she thought she heard me say Cajun wrap...my bf ordered everything for us..I only requested no tomato or onion. When we asked about our appetizer we were told it was never put into the system. Overall on a good point my bf’s burger was corrected, I got my sandwich, and thankfully the check was keyed in correctly. In regards to all of the foods taste..the onion rings were pretty good.. This place has pretty good drinks and a nice atmosphere they just lack in service NOT including one of the male servers (that did not cause any of the problems listed above) there that came to check on us every...
Read moreDear Mark,
As I reflect on my time at the University of Maryland, I can't help but smile thinking about The Rendezvous Inn, affectionately known to us all as "The 'Vous." What began as your father's business has, under your stewardship, become an integral part of the UMD experience for generations of students.
For over 60 years, you and your family have been more than just business owners – you've been a friend, a confidant, and a constant presence in our lives. The 'Vous, now Cornerstone Grill, has been our sanctuary. It's where we've shared beers, laughter, and those nervous first dates. It's where friendships were forged and memories were made that will last a lifetime.
Your dedication to preserving the spirit of The 'Vous while evolving with the times is commendable. You've taken your father's legacy and built upon it, creating a place that feels both timeless and fresh. The fact that Cornerstone Grill continues to be a beloved spot for students and alumni alike is a testament to your hard work and vision.
To my Theta Chi brothers and me, you've been more than just the owner of our favorite hangout. You've been a friend and a supporter through the years. Your continued connection to us long after our graduation speaks volumes about your character and the genuine relationships you've built with your patrons.
Mark, thank you for the countless nights of fun, the sense of community you've fostered, and for keeping the spirit of The 'Vous alive all these years. Here's to you, to The 'Vous, to Cornerstone Grill, and to 60+ amazing years of being the heart of the UMD social scene.
With heartfelt appreciation and fond...
Read moreI eat at the bar with a couple coworkers last night. The service at first was solid but they did a shift change and afterwards it was horrible. We saw the food come out of the kitchen and just sit on the bar for about 15 minutes as the bartender just stood there talking with customers. Not serving. Talking to them and ignoring his job. We considered getting the food ourselves until it got it became so ridiculous that we began betting on how long it would take him to shut up and do his job. After he delivered the food he blames the kitchen for sending the apps with the entrees.
While I was in college these were difficult jobs to get as everyone wanted to be behind the bar. I'd think Cornerstone would be able to find better bartenders. On the positive side, he did tell a couple next to us that the crab dip was no good. That being said, the food we did get was...
