I tried The Great Greek in College Park soon after it opened. We went to the restaurant, which is designed more for takeout, with a counter and stools for dining and a large counter for taking orders. I thought the food delicious and planned to eat there again in the future, likely doing delivery (they use the Toast app).
A relative passed away and we were hosting friends and family after the service at our house. We decided catering would be easier than potluck or trying to offer food ourselves. We checked some local places but few offered weekend delivery and a menu we felt would appeal to a range of individuals.
I reached out to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill College Park, MD and they said that they did offer catering and were available for weekend delivery. They invited us to visit the store to try the food and in person discuss our event, the size, etc.
When we arrived, they had a meal ready for us to try what they felt would be best for a buffet. They offered helpful suggestions like how chicken would stay soft for a buffet while lamb and steak could get tough. We found the prices quite reasonable, as was the delivery fee (we live within 10 miles of the store).
The food was delivered almost on time (I don't blame them, GPS to where we live is always wrong). We had more than enough food and is was served in disposable aluminum trays. Salad dressing was offered in one of those large ketchup squeeze bottles, and we had chicken souvlaki, rice, pita, tzatziki, hummus, and their Greek salad with all the trimmings.
Everyone raved about the food. It was easy to eat when sitting around a living room and backyard, it stayed tasty even while sitting out as a buffet, and made fantastic leftovers.
The Great Greek College Park followed up the first business day after the event to check to see if we were satisfied and we were. Everything was perfect, from taste to...

I recently had the pleasure of eating at The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in College Park, Maryland, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This hidden gem deserves all the praise it can get.
From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. Though small but the décor is charming, and the staff greeted me with a friendly smile. They made me feel right at home, which is always a great way to start a dining experience. There are only eight high chairs to sit, but food was so good, it make us not to think about the limited numbers of seats.
Now, let's talk about the food - it was absolutely delicious! The menu offers a wide variety of Mediterranean dishes, and everything I tried was flavorful and authentic. The gyro was perfectly seasoned and had that irresistible smoky flavor. The falafel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the hummus was creamy and divine. I also couldn't resist the baklava for dessert - it was sweet, sticky perfection.
The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of food you get. They even have options for vegetarians and vegans, which is a big plus.
The service was top-notch, and the staff was attentive without being intrusive. They provided excellent recommendations and made sure my dining experience was enjoyable.
I highly recommend The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill to anyone in the College Park area looking for a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a Mediterranean food enthusiast or just looking for a delicious meal, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning soon!
Thank you, Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, for a wonderful dining experience. You've gained a loyal...
Read moreThis was my first time trying the food at this new place. I ordered the gyro. The cashier gave me the options to choose what kind of meat I’d like on the gyro I picked the lamb which btw is an extra 2 dollars. He asked how I wanted the meat cooked I told the cashier well done. I sat inside in one of the stools they have and after about 30 minutes of waiting which I’d like to add that the cashier told me it was gonna be a Total of 5 to 8 minute wait. No one was at the counter I grabbed the attention of a guy in the back who I think was cooking. Turns out my gyro was ready. And I had been there waiting for 30 freaking minutes. My back was facing the cash register so no one working there had the audacity to hollar at me saying my order is ready. I will also add that when I was waiting on the stools a man walked in to order and no one was at the register this man had to hollar for someone at least twice for someone to come from out the back and take his order. Keep in mind this is all around 11:40am and it’s not busy. This is not a good look. Now to my gyro. I gotta say I was disappointed. Firstly, the gyro I ordered looks nothing like gyro I see on the menu. The picture of the gyro looked more fuller with a green chilly which mine didn’t come with. Was lacking on the white sauce. My lamb wasn’t cooked well done like I asked it was still pink inside the meat. I will say tho, that the flavor of the meat was decent. Was lacking red onions. For this business to keep stable and have good reviews they need to make sure someone is at the register to take peoples orders and communicate to each other and to the customer when the food is ready! Overall I give this place a 2 and a half...
