Blue Baker — Restaurant in College Station

First visit: The sandwich came out cold. The bread wasn't toasted and the cheese wasn't warm, much less melted. There was a microwave though so maybe you're supposed to microwave your sandwiches??

They also had this weird system where you order in one place and then pay at another counter but then you have to tell the other counter what you ordered, again. And only at the other counter could you buy the extras for your meals like drinks and sides. It doesn't seem the most efficient and wasn't easy for a newcomer.

Oh, but the cookies were sooooooo good!

Second visit: I went a second time because I had a coupon for a free sandwich. This time I got Club Bleu and it was delicious! There was plenty of flavor and the sandwich came warm (I also remembered that cold sandwich shops like Subway do, in fact, exist). My friend also got a vegetarian sandwich (Roasted Veggie) and they said it was also delicious.

We thought about sharing a desert and looked at their selection. There were quite a bit of different options for cookies, loaves, and pastries. We saw this pineapple zucchini bread. We were very weirded out by it but we did like pineapples and zucchini... just not together? In a loaf?? The staff saw this and offered to cut one open and give us a sample which was very nice of them. Turns out it was really good! Sweet but not too sweet and there were other spices (I think cinnamon) that gave it a little bite. We did ask to buy the one that we had the sample of but the staff insisted that it was okay and gave us a fresh one!

So, good food, good service,...

I have lived in B/CS my entire life and I have been eating at Blue Baker since the doors first opened. I have always enjoyed it except for last night. I placed an order for pick up and picked it up 20 minutes later at the Dominik location. Upon arriving, I paid, was handed my order and left. I returned home only to find my order was completely wrong. I immediately called back and after an extended hold time, getting hung up on twice (employee was unsure on how to operate the phone), having to repeatedly convince the employee that I ordered from the Dominik location and not the University location, and having to repeat the correct order five times to the employee, they told me I could come and pick up a new one (they wouldn’t deliver a new order to replace the one they got wrong).

I drove back to Blue Baker to get my new order and to bring back the wrong one to prove I was given the wrong order (my original receipt reflected my correct order). Upon arriving, approximately 20 minutes later my correct order was given to me and I was also completely refunded which was a pleasant surprise. I was even further surprised when they took the order I had returned and put it back on the "to go" order rack (whoever picked up the two Baby Brutus salads and the fudge brownie, around 9 pm on 2/8/2014, sorry; I touched your food in the process of figuring out it wasn’t mine). I left with my correct order only to pass another customer bringing in another incorrect order. Sorry Blue Baker but…EPIC...

If I could give 0 stars for everything, I would. There were 8-10 people working when we arrived just before 10am on a Sunday morning. No one greeted us and there were no customers in the building - that should have been a red flag that no one comes here for breakfast anymore. The woman with tall blue hair taking our order was overtly rude the entire interaction, a very unhappy individual- shouldn’t be in customer service. They forgot our order of 2 bagels with cream cheese and 1 breakfast sandwich so we sat for over 20 minutes before checking in with the front again. They then started our order after reminding them and it was out in 5 min. The “bagels” were actually rolls (not a bagel at all) and cold - they were having problems with their toaster so they didn’t toast them appropriately but also didn’t tell us that. We basically received 2 cold rolls with a giant amount of cream cheese in top and a greasy, soggy breakfast croissant. When we went to pick up our order, girl with the tall blue hair just stared at us, pushed the plates towards us, and took our receipt saying nothing at all.

Blue Baker used to be GREAT but has down significantly downhill since we used to eat here years ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go under. Trash food, trash service, low selection, high price. Disappointing all around....
