Love their strips, so much better than "the other place". My friend (who is a MinPin), eats a strip in the morning and a strip at night, she wont eat anything else. We get the 25strip box for her.

I get a box for myself.

I feel they sometimes get a bad name when they cater, and the customer thinks its worse than "the other place".

Edit: Not long after posting this review, Layne's went thru some major changes. They increased the price of 25 strip box by 50%! THEN they reduced the size of their strips, many of them look like the size of shrimp, 1/2-2/3 smaller.

You used to be able to get an ~8"x8" box loaded with fries, now for the same price you get 1/4 as many fries in a tiny box.

They said, "we are attempting to stay competitive".

They now charge more for much smaller strips than Raising Cane's, I dont see how that is "being competitive"

I stopped by there the other day for some fries, after eating a couple I gave the rest to my dog. The cooking oil tasted like it hadnt been changed in days.

This place has gone drastically DOWNHILL.

I dont know how they expect to stay in business. Maybe this was their poor solution at making money in a down economy. Or maybe the owner needs to go back to business school (if they ever did), because they are doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they should be doing to stay competitive.

I think when he said, "we are trying to stay competitive", what he really meant was "we are shorting customers as much as possible, just to stay afloat".

Unless they change their ways, I Highly recommend going to Cane's, where you get...

Had dinner there out of convenience as it’s quick and close to home after a long shift. We were too tired to remember to ask for to go and they didn’t ask so we dined in, no biggie, Sunday is a busy day for everyone in college station. It’s just a few minutes. This is the Wellborn location on the off chance you googled the other one.

Their prices have risen recently, that would be one thing. Their floors always look and feel as sticky as if they haven’t seen a mop in months. And a roach decided to grace us with its presence halfway through our meal, it walked around unafraid, from its slowness it could’ve already been poisoned but who’s to say; That would just mean i was eating in a poison treated environment regardless.

This is the second fast food restaurant in college station I’ve eaten at within the past couple weeks with pest issues, the last was a subway I wanna say on Texas ave? It’s next to wash haus the laundromat and a bar I think called Tap. I didn’t have the energy to leave a review on that one, but the only employee working that night informed me of the roaches mice and gnats they had as she was handing us our food at the check out. We had already paid.

Laynes employees have never been rude to us, and pest issues aren’t directly an average workers fault, but it’s unacceptable in an eating establishment so sadly, I won’t be back....

When will people stop trying to imitate Raising Cane's? This is the second time I have tried this place and I won't be back. Just ordered a chicken finger sandwich with ketchup and mayo. Really simple right? Well I get told that they don't have mayo and that the closest thing is ranch that they have to it. I say ok go with that. Obviously thinking that I'm going to get a sandwich with ranch like I ordered and I said let me have some fries with that. Then I changed my mind on the fries and ordered 2 potato salads because the size is kinda small and told the girl to take the fries off of the order. Well my order comes out and guess what, no ranch on the sandwich like I ordered and instead it's covered with this imitation Cane's sauce that tastes like nothing but black pepper. Nasty is the kindest way that I can think of to describe it so I'm going to go with that. Being that it covered my sandwich, it made it totally inedible. Then come to find out that she didn't take the fries off the order so I ended up paying way too much for an order of fries and a little cup of potato salad. I definitely won't be returning again. If I wanted to taste nothing but black pepper, I could have just went to the pantry at the house. I definitely don't...

A college station classic spot. Not my first choice, but a good spot if you want some more bang for your buck compared to Cane’s. Definitely more greasy, but also more tender and also larger, at least from a consistency standpoint. The bread is no Texas toast but it pairs well and the fries are great. Definitely sucks that the sauce costs extra because it is really good. Gets pretty busy, but I’ve never had a problem getting my order correct and relatively fast. Some seating inside. Overall a good spot, especially if the line at Cane’s is too long.

First time back in College Station, and I come to find out Laynes has sold out and gone corporate. Price has changed, and quality of the food is so much worse. No more potato salad with any meals, you have to separately buy it. They gave me 10 fries with the 5 finger meal. Sauce doesn’t taste the same. Bread was soggy, like it had been microwaved. Tenders were alright, but far less meat. Fries tasted straight out of a frozen bag from Walmart. Disappointed. I’ll just go to Canes for better quantity and quality.
