Edit in response: A critic's job is to inform the public of the current quality of a restaurant, not provide quality control; that honor belongs to the chef. Also, a small family restaurant should have small family prices. Regardless I will try your restaurant again in a few months and change my review accordingly.
I have a feeling that the only good reviews here are paid and family/friends, or by those who have never eaten anything but fast food for their entire lives and were captivated too strongly by the piano and artwork. The only good thing which can be said about this restaurant is its service and atmosphere, to an extent. The food is very, very disappointingly bad.
Waiters are polite and friendly; however, they are inexperienced and unprofessional. They have good manners, but it is clear they have never worked in a professional restaurant before, which is a shame for a restaurant which claims to be professional.
The atmosphere itself of the restaurant is the only other decently good aspect of this restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely water fountain and very quaint artwork which I do admit makes you feel that you are in Italy; however, the tables are very small and the chairs are very, very hard, wobbly and uncomfortable.
As for the food: I have eaten at restaurants across the world, and must say that I have never been to a restaurant as "pricey" as Luigi's yet as poor of a quality of food. Luigi's boasts a high price, yet I can say with absolute certainty the food is worse quality than you'd find at any supermarket's frozen dinner section. Yes the food does taste fresh, but totally and embarrassingly unseasoned.
The potatoes are dry and tasteless, unseasoned and overcooked. I would be surprised if they had even 1/8 a tsp of butter or oil in them. At least the potatoes you can find in a frozen dinner taste like something, which is more than can be said of these potatoes. The carrots were cooked unevenly, with every other bite being either cooked through or very hard. The green beans were tough and undercooked, also tasteless and not seasoned at all. It tasted as if they were pulled off the vine, warmed slightly and thrown directly on the plate with no salt or spices.
The pasta noodles were very overcooked: soft, soggy, and very watery, definitely boiled far too long with not enough salt. This is the only "Italian" restaurant I've been to that does not know what al dente means. The sauce to go with it was, again, very watery and tasteless.
The meat, luckily, was cooked to a nice and tender consistency; however, it also was very poorly seasoned and tasted closer to water than meat. I wish I could say a good thing about the food because the staff was very polite, but I cannot. The quality of the prepared food is so depressingly bad. To sum up the food in one word: tasteless. A bad taste would have been better than no taste at all.
The owner claims to take great "pride" in the restaurant. Pride does not mean a thing if your food is terrible and pride altogether has no value. Perhaps too much pride is holding back this restaurant from learning how to make actually good food. This place should be ashamed to call itself an...
Read moreA night filled with disappointment. We came in with a party of 13 unannounced with no reservation. I expected to be turned away, we were accepted with open arms and sat at two separate tables. Perfect, a place for the children and a place for the adults. We ordered appetizers. They were all fine, albeit sub-par with places like 1860 in town I expected better calamari. Our waitress took our orders and asked us early if we’d prefer the children ordered first. They did and their food came out about the time the appetizers came, however some of them were incorrect and weren’t corrected till late in the evening when all the other meals had been finished. The adults ordered and eagerly awaited their meals. Only to be met with a disappointing array. Two of the orders came back completely incorrect a filet mignon in place of an ahi tuna steak. I would usually prefer the fillet however this evening I wanted the tuna I requested the meal I actually ordered and my sister took the filet. It was cooked medium rare, however poorly seasoned and it tasted as if the grill marks weren’t from the marks of the grill itself but from leftover filth upon the grill, the mash it came with was completely unseasoned and seemed as if it came from a bag(y’all know the one). Another meal had come out incorrectly and a new was requested. My brothers spaghetti and meatballs tasted as if the meatballs had come from a bag and were frozen. By the time everyone was finished with their meals the tuna steak had still not arrived and the replacement pasta meal for my sister that had come out incorrectly never arrived. Having been their an hour or so by the time our food arrived we opted to cancel our orders now that we were nearly two hours in and pay so we could get home. When a cancellation was requested the server gave an attitude and said she’d have to ok that with a manager. The manager came to the table expressing that we had had some issues with our night and we explained the dilemma he was respectful and took the items we had not received off of our tab. Our waitress came and attempted to properly split the order but had no idea how to do it and was constantly mistaking whose items went where. So we opted to just split it. Then another 30minutes later of not seeing our waitress we finally decided to get up and find a way to pay so we could leave. After payment and two of us never actually receiving our food in timely manner the greatest experience of the night was leaving this...
Read moreLuigi’s is the best restaurant in the world and I will 100% recommend it to everyone. The waitresses are amazing and are the nicest people you’d meet anywhere in the world. The food is out of this world. I literally had “foodgasms”. The pasta was so good I thought I was in Italy. They serve the most authentic Italian cuisine you can find anywhere on the planet. The atmosphere in the evening is so bubbly and fun. I ate there on a Thursday night and there was an ongoing good ol’ country music performance.
My experience began with making a reservation online. It was done seamlessly through their website in less than two minutes. I wanted to ask my date to be my girlfriend and did had an idea in mind but did not know how I was gonna execute that. The online reservation page had a box to make special requests. I took advantage of that and told them I was gonna ask my date out.
When we got to the restaurant, we were met by the amazing waitresses and let to our table. We were introduced to our waitress for the night, Madyson. Madyson is the GOAT (Greatest of ALL TIME) waitress. She was very professional and provided the best service I have ever received anywhere. She was really helpful when we asked about food recommendations. The wine I had was perfect. The bread we had was just the right texture. It felt so good in the mouth and the sauce blended in perfectly with the bread.
After making our choice for the meal with expert advice from Madyson, we had our meal in no time. It was a really wonderful meal of pasta with beef sauce and chicken. I do not recall the exact name of the meal. Excuse my Italian lingo. However it was a perfect meal. After we were done having our dinner, the GOAT waitress and the best “wingman” ever brought out a plate with a cake that had “Will you be my girlfriend” spelt out in the most beautiful handwriting ever in chocolate.
I was enthralled and my date, now my girlfriend could not hide her excitement. She says she’s never gonna forget this gesture. I am also never gonna forget the kindness of all the amazing people at Luigi’s who worked so hard to pull up this beautiful gesture. The waitresses who had a competition on seeing who could write out the most beautiful note with chocolate.
Now, I am gonna take my girlfriend to Luigi’s every year to celebrate our anniversary. They are indeed amazing and very wonderful people. You are gonna have an amazing time having good food, amazing music and the kindness people in the...
