We went to Bob Evans last night for dinner, which I have not been there since I was a teenager with my grandma and didn’t like the food then but I thought that has been years so I would give it another try. The restaurant itself is very nice, much nicer than when I had gone with my grandma. The food was good but the waitress was horrible. I had ordered a garden salad which according to the menu had lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, shredded cheese and croutons. When the salad came there was no cheese or croutons on it at all. I also ordered a grilled chicken something or other that had roasted red potatoes and broccoli and some kind of cheese sauce and crumbled bacon on top. The food was good but it looked like they had just thrown it on the plate. When the waitress brought our food she forgot the dinner rolls, we had to ask for them. I had ordered a cup of coffee with my meal, now mind you a cup of coffee is $2.25. She filled my first cup about half full and after finishing my first cup had to wait for 10-15 minutes for her to come back by and refill my cup....half full again. And she never came back to clear our dishes from the table or refill my cup again. Just dropped the ticket on the table and as she was walking away asked my husband “you want more soda” and didn’t stop walking away as he told her no. I’m pretty sure if he had wanted more it would have taken her quite awhile to get him some. There was a family of 3 a couple tables behind us who had been there when we had arrived and they had to ask her when their food would be coming. Apparently she had forgotten to put their order in and they still didn’t have their food when we left. Needless to say we did not leave a tip. I know that waitresses rely on tips and usually I tip pretty well when the service is good but in this case she was horrible and I just couldn’t bring myself to leave her anything. I will say that the manager was very nice. He had seated us and as we were getting ready to leave he had come over and asked how everything was. My husband told him it was good, I kept my mouth shut. I don’t think I will be going back to Bob...
Read moreI don't just go off on tangents, but this place is absolutely deserving of one. All around, it was awful. We went on Thanksgiving day. Understandably. it was probably a pretty chaotic and stressful day. I work in the restaurant industry myself. I get it. However, there was absolutely no excuse for how we were treated by staff. We were seated immediately when we walked in. Great. Once seated, we were handed our menus and had our drink order taken. When those finally came, that was it. We sat there for over 30 minutes, watching staff pass us by as though we were invisible. I finally had to get up to ask if we had a server and if our order could be taken. There seemed to be a lot of confusion and disgruntled banter surrounding this question. Finally, Johnny, very unhappily, came to our table and said, "I guess I'm your server. What do y'all want." as though we'd done something wrong. The order was taken, and Johnny disappeared. Not only did the food come out cold, our orders were incorrect, and Johnny was nowhere to be found. We weren't checked on a single time by Johnny, let alone anyone else. So, we made do with our cold food made incorrectly, empty drinks and two napkins between the 3 of us, and got the check. Lo and behold, Johnny appeared out of nowhere. Not to acknowledge us, but to socialize and hug other members of staff. My boyfriend, far more gracious than I, still tipped him. What really got me was that as we were paying, I asked if there was a manager on duty. The lady told me there were three. How the hell does this happen with three whole managers on duty?! We went last year and had a great time and had amazing service. We weren't expecting a fine dining experience by any means, but we did expect and deserve to be treated with cordiality, dignity, attentiveness, and respect. They failed miserably on all counts. We won't waste our hard earned money here, ever again. Holiday, or otherwise. Below subpar service, below subpar food. Absolutely unacceptable! Do better, Bob Evans in...
Read moreI had quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant yesterday evening. There seemed to be only one waitress. She was very nice and very overworked. We waited quite a while to be seated and then waited a long time to have our order taken. It took a long time for our food to arrive. The waitress brought out our rolls so we would have something to eat while we waited. Unfortunately they were rock hard. I are one but couldn't eat the other. When the food finally came, the fried chicken breast was clearly overcooked. It had a rubbery consistency to it. I have actually never sent food back before. The waitress offered to bring something else out for me. She said the pot roast would be the quickest. I agreed to have that. When she brought it out it was a very small amount of pot roast with a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy. I thanked her and ate it because I was hungry. I had already eaten some green beans and mashed potatoes from the earlier plate. That tasted okay. My husbands meal was also overcooked but he ate it. I am going to be having a medical procedure done so this is the last meal I will eat for about a day and a half.
A man, who I'm guessing was the manager, came out to help clear tables. He was barking orders at the hostess. She seemed to be fairly new to her job. I felt sorry for her and the waitress. We haven't been to Bob Evans for several months and probably won't be going back anytime soon. I definitely don't blame the waitress. She...
