Absolutely my new favorite restraunt! This was the best meal I've had in like a year and certainly not the most expensive. I love that they have a dedicated vegan menu (you have to ask for it) so I can not have to sift through the regular menu to find something I can eat! I had the teriyaki tofu (bento tray) and it was AMAZING. Literally perfect in every way, the tofu was cooked perfectly, there was plenty of very tasty teriyaki sauce and yummy rice, there were vegan spring rolls and a little salad 🥗 with yummy peanut butter dressing. Very filling and good portion size, my only complaint is it was so tasty I gobbled it all up and then I felt too full! (I usually save a quarter to half of a meal at restaurant for left overs since portion sizes in restraunts are unhealthily large). I also had a thia iced tea with Coconut milk which was yummy.
The restraunt while small and a bit eclectic was very clean and our waitress Koy was very sweet and cheerful and respectful. The restraunt seating area was not very busy at all though the take out line was very busy, but regardless our food came out very quickly and was the perfect temperature.
My husband is not vegan and so almost every time we go out to eat one of us is compromising but not at Elephang Thai! He got a chicken curry with medium spice level and thought it was perfect.
We had the sticky rice (for "dessert") and it came out in a little woven basket, so fun! There are pretty table cloths on the tables with class over them and they use cloth napkins and everything like a nice sit down restaurant, it seems like most of the customers get the food to go (it's amazing food!) but I would consider this a nice sit down restraunt for date night! This was our date night.
This was literally a perfect experience, exceptional food (best thia food i have had in my entire life), clean, vegan options, elegant atmosphere, good service, stop reading reviews and just put this in the GPS, you will be...
Read moreIf you follow me you probably know Thai is my favorite food, so when offered a chance to try a place I haven't been to yet, I jumped at it.
Clean, and quiet, and nicely decorated I perused the menu while awaiting my dining companions. The regular menu is pretty limited, but its Thai so... really, you don't need a massive menu. They offer both a vegan/vegetarian and gluten free menus as well.
I wanted pad pak with garlic sauce, but either the waitress didn't understand me, or they don't allow for subscriptions because she just repeated back to me it comes with soy sauce. 😐
They brought out a vegan soup with a crab ragoon as an appetizer but I ordered some chicken eggrolls for me instead.
I found the shell of the eggrolls to be overcooked while the insides were cool. Idk what kind of chicken they used, but it was mostly invisible/tasteless. The sweet and sour sauce was too ... 🤔 vinegary? for my taste. I tried a friend's peanut sauce. Not much better.
My pad pak came out looking pretty with nice fresh, crisp vegetables. Unfortunately, they were crisp because they were mostly raw. Personally I don't care for raw vegetables, so that was a negative for me. Nor did I care for the strong soy sauce flavor.
My dining companions all said their meals were good. One said the spice was just right, another asked for hot and said she tasted no spice at all.
Overall, I don't think I would choose to come back here. It just wasn't to my...
Read moreMediocre, slow service, and oddly prepared food. I visited on a lunch break and waited for several minutes at an empty counter behind another couple while the staff were chatting up in the kitchen. I finally had to go around the corner to ask for help. Once sat, I waited over 15 minutes to get my order taken, which happened only after I flagged down the waitress who was back to chatting with a friend jn the kitchen (at the time, there was only one other occupied table - tue rest of the place was empty). I ordered teriyaki tofu, which is described on the menu as pan seared. It arrives as deep fried, pencil eraser sized cubes floating in a thin brown liquid that is nothing like teriyaki. The tofu also tasted like deep fried rubber and was terrible. The salad was overdressed with what tasted like mostly straight Mayo, and the soup came with a cold crab Rangoon, not the veggie spring roll it promised. As a place touting lots if vegan food, the fact that I was served seafood with my meal wasn't exactly in keeping with that idea. I also ordered a Thai Iced tea and was asked if I wanted half and half or coconut milk. I opened for coconut (which I was later charged an extra.75 for). It tasted good, but the milk was separated in the tea and looked grainy and curdled. All around, a terrible experience and at almost $19 for lunch, I'd...
