I have been to every Thai restaurant in Colorado Springs and trust me when I say that this is the best. After Lanna Thai changed owners years ago, I searched for a restaurant with great flavor and familiar menu items. Each Thai restaurant I tried left me disappointed and felt like a compromise until this one. The best part is the price point! Every day of the week (including weekends), they have lunch specials until 3pm which include Thai iced tea (typically $3.50), jasmine rice, and an egg roll with select entrees for $7.99! Well, I had high hopes from reading other reviews, so I went big. I got the Thai fried rice lunch special (a favorite from Lanna Thai's old menu back in the day and one I couldn't find elsewhere with the same distinct flavor profile), Ka Nom Jeeb— a kind of steamed dumpling with crispy garlic on top, and a bowl of Tom Yum Gai soup. Service was fast. I think the soup came out within five minutes or so. The flavors were incredible. This is a soup that uses lemongrass, kefir leaf, and galangal and it was absolutely delicious. Because I didn't specify a spice level, my server brought me a tray of spices to adjust the heat myself. If I could have sat there all day drinking a pot of this soup, I would have. The bowl sized portion was only $3.99! Then came the dumplings, which were served with a sweet sauce. The garlic was perfectly crisp, which is how you know it's going to be good. Getting minced garlic crisp without burning it takes skill. They were amazing. 6 dumplings for $5.99 was well worth it. Finally, my fried rice was perfectly cooked, not dry or soggy but glistening. Everything was there, especially the flavor. Everything looked as good as it tasted. Believe the hype. Believe the 5-star reviews. I had a 3-course meal for $21.61 and the rest of the fried rice is going to be dinner. That's another thing: The portions for the lunch specials are generous and plenty of food to fill you up! Give this place a shot. You...
Read moreUPDATE: no longer as vegan friendly, but still nice people - wanted to make sure the recipes were still vegan since we hadn't been in a while but they weren't able to check (chef was out or something? It was odd hours like 3pm)
I swear the food here has so much flavor and the vegetables are always cooked perfectly - boyfriend and I are vegan, and Maya and the other people there, who are all so friendly and kind btw, take the time to accommodate us and make sure that everything we order is truly vegan - she's knowledgeable about what's vegan and really goes above and beyond for us time and time again.
Here's what I've learned about eating vegan here: The curry here is just naturally vegan, no modifications. You can sub rice noodles for any non-vegan noodles (we did this for the curry noodles - sooo good - make sure you get no crispy noodles on top as well since those are egg noodles). You can get Thai tea without milk! Spring rolls that come with lunch special are vegan. I don't believe the menu online said what is and can be made vegan, but there's a menu on the window of the physical store that has that info (which is why we stopped in in the first place)
Easily my favorite place to eat ever since we found it many months ago - everyone I've brought here is amazed too, vegan and non-vegan - can't say enough...
Read moreThai Taste, at its best, is some of the fullest, richest plates of Thai food you could order in the Springs. At its worst, the less popular items are a bit bland, and would feel more refined if ordered with additional spice (heat).
I ordered the Pad Thai w/Tofu - hot without Peanuts (personal preference), and I can safely and confidently say that it is among the best, if not THE best Pad Thai offered in the Springs. It's bold, rich and complex flavor profile blasts your taste buds with an unforgettable and addicting experience that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
On the other hand, the Yellow Curry w/ Chicken was a rather bland and watered down experience that can much better be properly represented at other local and notable Thai Restaurants, where their flavors are equally as attended to as the Pad Thai offering at Thai Taste.
As far as the Thai Tea, it isn't exactly worth ordering here, and I can't quite figure out exactly why. But there are many ways to order it, including with thai coffee, tea or Boba (or a mix of two).
The wait staff was exceptional, friendly and attentive. Their spirits were high and engaged with their customers. The atmosphere was fun, decorative and cozy. Overall, probably a solid...
