Went there for the lunch buffet
Pros-One bowl of naan and hot chai tea included with the buffet, that was a nice addition. They had all the staples I would expect from an Indian buffet, Red curry, Saag, Butter Chicken, veggie samosas, yellow and jasmine rice, plenty of other food. The service was nice, I had a very friendly waitress who was very attentive. After tip and tax I think I paid 21 dollars for the buffet, which I thought was an ok value (especially if they fixed a couple of my gripes).
Cons - Hopefully I just visited them on a bad day, but just about all my food was barely above room temperature. Unfortunately I really enjoy my food piping hot (to the point where my wife can't even take a sip of soup that I'm eating) but I'm very sure that if she was with me even she'd agree that the food was too cold. For reference, I went at noon, not at all close to when they close for lunch.
Additionally, I understand that when you have a buffet you have to appeal to the lowest common denominator, but they didn't have a single spicy choice on the buffet. I can't eat a huge amount of spice, but when I think Indian food I expect to have at least an option with some kick to it.
I probably won't be visiting again, but can see why others...
Read moreMy brother-in-law of 11 years and his family are from the New Delhi area. Besides having countless home-cooked meals from all of them, I've also been to the motherland and eaten Daal until oil saturated my body. Because of these experiences, I'm picky when it comes to Indian food.
If you want truly AUTHENTIC Nepalese/Indian food that is chock full of flavor... then THIS is the place to go. In my opinion, it's the best place in the Springs. BY. FAR. I've been to so many Indian/Nepalese restaurants in the Springs (because Korma and samosas are my comfort foods and I have a problem) and none have come close to Gurkhas for authenticity and flavor.
The masala chai is out of this world. Every entree I've ordered is full of flavor and tasty spices. The service has always been excellent and the food comes out surprisingly fast. Did I mention they have Nepalese music videos/dramas playing all the time on tv? (quality 10/10 entertainment). I've been here MULTIPLE times; I can earnestly say my experience has never been poor.
I hope they stay in business forever. I would single-handedly fund this restaurant if I could. Please support this local business with wonderful people and go order food here!! You...
Read moreSo everyone knows this place is under new ownership. I was there on the second day they open on 6/5/22 for the open lunch bar and the food was amazing. This is a family own business and you feel a warm welcome as soon as you walk into the door. The staff is very welcoming and makes sure you are taken care of. I really wish I could remember the young mans name that served me, but his servers was outstanding and knew what he was doing. Also from 10:30am-3:00pm is when they have the open lunch bar after 3:00pm is when they have a open menu and its about 4-5 pages of different kinds of Indian food. You can tell this place takes the word quality to a different level and puts in the time to do it right. I recommend this place to anyone that likes Indian food or just wants to try something new. This would be a great place to take a date or family in my book because the outside dose not do the inside justices at all. Don't just take my word for it go try it and I'm willing to bet you will not be disappointed. I cant wait to go back and try out more of...
