⭐☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing Post-Sale Experience
I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Kona N Line from McCloskey Motors on May 17, 2025, and while my initial buying experience seemed positive, the post-sale experience has been extremely disappointing.
Within weeks of taking possession, the car required a jump-start. AAA confirmed the battery was not OEM, despite being told it was new and had been replaced to resolve a moonroof issue. Arapahoe Hyundai later determined the battery was deeply discharged and replaced it, along with performing a Hyundai factory recall (Multimedia Keyboard Logic 25-01-012H) necessary to address the moonroof malfunction. This recall existed before my purchase and should have been completed properly prior to sale.
Other issues: • I was told the tires were “new” — Discount Tire confirmed they were not. • I was assured a second key fob existed and would be mailed. Later, the title department admitted no second key could be found. Hyundai quoted $583.42 for a replacement fob/key. • We waited nearly 4 weeks for the vehicle after being told a front bumper part had been ordered and installed — which was untrue.
When I contacted the dealership owners, Joe and Ann McCloskey, their Service Manager called me back. Instead of addressing the documented misrepresentations or offering a reasonable resolution, she explained “company policies” and placed responsibility back on me for repairs and costs. They offered no reimbursement or goodwill consideration — even with invoices, receipts, and recall information in hand.
My request was narrow, reasonable, and documented: $1,069.06 to cover the OEM battery replacement tied to the recall and the missing second key fob. The dealership refused to accept any responsibility or provide financial consideration.
If you value transparency, accountability, and post-sale support, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience shows that once McCloskey Motors makes the sale, they will hide behind “policy” rather than stand...
Read moreWe purchased the car we were looking at, had it inspected elsewhere with a few known issues and it's working out great. My review is based solely on the customer service.
We worked with Naji who told us it was only his second week on the job. He did great explaining details about the vehicle, answered questions well, and helped with paperwork. For being brand new to the role, he didn't show it. He gets 5 stars.
His superiors were not as kind. They spoke to him demeaningly, as if he should know how the system works, why wasn't he logged into the workstation they stuck him at, or wondering why the printers weren't connected to his computer....like it's something he should have already figured out his second week on the job? For as new as he was, there was nobody assisting him and he had to go get backup a few times.
We discussed with the manager on the floor, Ron, about receiving a second key. (It was not something we had looked to have written into the paperwork, unfortunately - buyer beware). He kept saying "That's something the main office will contact you about next week" and pushing the responsibility off to someone else. More than a week later, I had to reach out to the main office myself, as they had no intentions of calling me with more info. I was informed that since we paid in full there was no follow up planned.
I've tried reaching out multiple times to Ron with zero communication in return. This speaks volumes about their customer service as a whole - once they have your money, they have zero interest in dealing with you again unless you're coming back to look at another vehicle (not likely).
We ended up having to make our secondary key elsewhere for a couple hundred dollars, an added expense we were not expecting to encounter. Make sure all your requests are in writing before...
Read moreI do not recommend buying here. I did not have a good experience. The Salesperson was helpful in letting me try out almost every vehicle I could possibly operate with my disability which I appreciate. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. They claim they have this awesome warranty but it is not part of their pricing. When they draft up the paperwork they add thousands extra so when you look at numbers then they explain that's the warranty. That red flag should've sent me running but that's on me. After purchasing a vehicle the helpfulness subsided, though. The repairs promised were such a nightmare. I called and left a message the beginning of January hoping to resolve it before writing a negative review and nobody has even called back, now 2 months later. It's a nightmare trying to get them to follow through on repairs that are promised upon purchase. The reply to my original review says they completed the repairs but this is false. They did complete some. Their windshield repair guy that was sent after a big mess trying to even get him out said he couldn't repair or replace it as agreed and he left. After several messages that were never returned I gave up and added glass coverage to insurance to get it done. In just a few years the vehicle I purchased has been an absolute nightmare with repairs, too. We've now spent more than it is worth in repairs. A 7 year old vehicle needs a new transmission already now too! The worst decision I've made is buying from here. They don't care what you're driving or dragging they'll sell it to someone else for more than...
