We had out of state company and so called at 1pm for reservations for 10 at 6:30. We arrived and we're informed that they had set a table for only 8 and that it would be 5 minutes. 35 minutes later we were told that it would be 2 more minutes, that they now had the table set. We waited 10 more minutes to be seated. We were escorted to the farthest corner of the restaurant next to the outdoor patio where a table had been set for 10, and was blocking the back exit from the kitchen. Once seated our drink orders were taken , the water and tea were delivered promptly, minus one water. The drinks, Margueritas, common at a Mexican bar took 20 minutes before arriving, one member of our party ordered a second and it took 40 minutes to arrive giving them about 10 minutes to consume it as everyone was finished with their meal. The frozen Margueritas had large chunks of ice in them, making it hard ti drink through a straw, and leaving large chunks of ice in the bottom of the glass whe finished, not a good frozen Marguerita to my tastes. The second Margueritas was ordered by the only family member who order the Margueritas on the rocks. It took 45 minutes for food to arriveat the table, after our order was taken. It was a good thing the waitress was skinny as she had to slide down the table to serve the hot plates. I only cringed when she had to reach across the table to serve my 2-yr old grandson, and again when she reached over my 88 yr old mother. Although the food was good, I wouldn't say it was in the top 10 Mexican restaurants I'd eaten at and the overall experience did not leave me wanting to come back. Being with family was the saving grace for...
Read moreA quaint atmosphere with subdued decorations will greet you here without a vibrant rainbow of colors like some places. There are a mixture of large & regular tables with some mixed size booths in the main dining area. Table seating is also available in the bar area with some TV's plus a nice size patio area looks inviting if the weather is nice. There is also a private room behind a glass wall off the entry with a view of the two sided fireplace.
Chips & salsa were accompanied with warm bean dip. The chips are just the right thickness and the salsa has a good spicyness. The bean dip is akin to refried beans but thinner and perfect for dipping. All in all a great start. The drink menu is shorter then alot of places but has enough variety to satisfy. The dinner menu had plenty of variety without trying to offer everything possible like a few places around town where it takes way too long to wade through the possibilities.
Our waiter, Jacob, provided excellent service with the food arriving in a timely manner. I had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas and had problem cleaning the plate. The mole sauce has a nice kick, which I prefer, so if you like it mild make another choice. We did not have room for dessert but there are 6 options available that I doubt will disappoint based on our dinner experience. We made the trek from the northeast corner of town and it's worth the drive from anywhere in the area. We will be back soon and I hope to...
Read moreBad food, bad service, and a subsequently bad atmosphere. I ordered shredded chicken nachos without tomatoes for takeout only to get home and find tomatoes in them. I called to ask them to remake my order and they said they would but only if I “brought the food back”. I thought that was strange but they begrudgingly assured me that they would remake the nachos. I inspected my “remade” order prior to leaving and there were no tomatoes but when I got home I found tomatoes under the top layer of chips. It’s clear now that they just wanted me to bring the nachos back so that they could pick the tomatoes off of the top and pretend like they remade them for me. GROSS!
Admittedly I ordered Miguel’s, which I know to be mediocre, because I wanted something quick and cheap and so I ordered simple nachos thinking that they couldn’t screw them up. But only Miguel’s could manage to do so and so I received what I always receive from Miguel’s; subpar midwest-quality Mexican food with a hint of laziness because their entire business model is predicated on selling over-salted food to drunk people who are unaware that Miguel’s version of “Mexican” fare is trash compared to real Mexican cuisine. All of the food here is soggy. My wife commented that somehow even the tortilla soup is soggy. Do yourself, your family, and the community a favor and eat anywhere...
