Parking can be limited in this area, as the restaurant shares with other businesses. We have never not found a space, by some miracle, but you may find yourself in the furthest spot from the entrance, due to the popularity - rather lunch or dinner. Walk through a glass door with metal handles to a host stand on the left, baseball gumball machine on the right and a bar straight ahead in which you would make it there in two steps. The front of the restaurant houses tables and booths alike. This is also the part of the restaurant the kitchen and restrooms are found. In "the back" are additional tables and booths, but here both are larger and you must be mindful to carefully step up and down from the booths. While black and white checkered tablecloths adorn the tabletops, old memorabilia such as gas cans, chicken statues, hockey photos dress the walls. The floor is carpeted with a low pile grayish carpet, which was dirty. Looking above ones own eye level, you will find wine bottle lights and TVs. The menus are made of a nice wipable martial, but the children's menus are printed on standard paper, with the selections on one side and coloring on the other; your standard four pack of crayons will be provided to each child, which are in a plastic sleeve. Your food is typically served on plastic white/cream colored plates, plastic bowls or white china dishes. This restaurant totes Pepsi products and usually has salt, pepper, parm and red pepper flakes on the table. While known for their paninos, this is an item I have yet to taste. Of the locations in Colorado Springs, this is the...
Read moreMama Mia! Italian Done Right. Colorado Springs Food Guy visited Panino’s 1721 S 8th St, Colorado Springs CO 80905 based on a suggestion from one of my Facebook friends. Panino’s is a casual, family-style restaurant with an upbeat atmosphere. I sampled their most popular item, the Grinder Panino, along with the Barbeque Panino, Manicotti, and the Italian Platter. The Grinder and Barbecue Paninos are overstuffed, lightly toasted wraps filled with an assortment of meats, and other flavorful ingredients. The Manicotti was baked to perfection. The Italian Platter offered generous portions of old-style Italian favorites such as Lasagna, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Spaghetti with Meatballs. Brian was my server and he was very attentive and energetic. The Manager and host were very welcoming, making it no wonder why this restaurant has become a staple in the community for so many years. I also tried an Italian Margarita served over ice with a salty rim. It was mixed perfectly and delicious. Simply, Panino’s does family-style Italian right with reasonable prices, big portions, and scrumptious food. So next time you want a family night out in search of a hearty meal, visit Panino’s. I had a wonderful...
Read moreI ordered food for delivery from panino's. Door dash was the delivery service. I get a text message from the driver saying my order isn't ready and he is waiting for it. Then maybe 3 minutes later another message saying my food was delivered. So I text the number back saying where did you deliver my food? I don't have it, you are not at my house. No response. So I call the restaurant, the manager states the driver picked up my order 10-15 minutes ago. Manager offers to remake my order and deliver it personally. I call door dash to file a complaint. They try to call their driver and he rejects their call. A few minutes go by and a guy shows up and hands me a bag says your food. I'm still on the phone with door dash at this point. I look in the bag and most of the food had been eaten! About a minute after that the manager from panino's shows up with the new order. I tell him what is going on and hand him the bag. He looks in and says oh that's gross I am so sorry........rest of the story in a nutshell is....Panino's has good food and a great team. The manager went above and beyond to resolve a problem. Awesome manager and...
