Was hoping to sit and enjoy a decent latte. Unfortunately for me the barista was engaged in a conversation with a local cycling enthusiast.
Personally I hate the paper cup experience which is why I look for smaller independent shops that typically use mugs. There were two people in the shop when I entered both already having been served. It wasn’t busy. Silly, but I assumed wrong and didn’t want to push it after she had already made my drink in a to go cup. The only reason I’m posting this detail is two more folks entered after I received my drink and she asked them both.
The actual roast used is tasty and makes a nice latte. With hints of a smooth cocoa and stone fruit.
The coffee was outstanding but the service was slightly less than desirable.
Added clarification:
Thank you for the response, you are correct I should have added more clarity.
The reason I was disappointed with the service is that I didn’t feel like I received attention I noticed other patrons received post my experience as I sat and enjoyed my coffee. I could have interrupted the conversation and asked if it would’ve been in a mug or a paper cup but didn’t feel appropriate.
Additionally, I wouldn’t have mentioned anything in my review at all about this part of my experience had I not observed the two following patrons receive the option and attention upon ordering. I am guessing since the cyclist had left there was more attentiveness. To be clear, the barista was pleasant enough, I just felt like I was already interrupting just being there...
Read moreToday was the 3rd time that I visited this Coffee Shop. The first time: The owner was there. He talked me into trying the Nicaragua blend: It tastes like watered down piss, served the next day. As well, I went inside to use the common restroom and when I returned outside to where I had my dogs tied up, The owner had made for certain that my coffee was thrown away when I returned to retrieve my dogs. The 2nd time I went was on Thanksgiving eve, and the owner wasn't there. I ordered a Americana and it was perfect. The staff was wonderful and gave me information on where my dogs could sit inside with me, in the common area. The third time that I went was the day of this review: The owner was there. I ordered an Americana and it tasted like warm, watered down piss. Are you starting to see the pattern here? The owner seems to be so consumed with his own contempt for the unfortunate homeless, dog people, and anyone else that puts a bug up his arse, that he can't get out of his own way. I strongly suggest that if he is working when you arrive at his shop, that you do a u-turn and go visit one of the more people friendly establishments in old Colorado City. There are some really good ones just...
Read moreA fascinating coffeehouse, unlike any I have ever seen. Eclectic vibe. A reasonable amount of indoor seating PLUS this odd bonus seating area thing that looks like massive stairs, creating a stadium effect where they could theoretically have a little stage production if they wanted and, until they do something like that, provides a whole bunch more available seats indoors, albeit concrete.
Another unique architectural feature is their massive, windowed garage-style door, which allows them to open up a significant part of the front of the store to the passersby, and allow a day with temperate temperatures to be the vibe of the inside. One time I was there when the "wall" was open it was even raining outside, which made it even more fun to be sitting inside: getting to smell the rain and feel the moisture while sitting in complete comfort inside.
And weather permitting, there's also lots of outdoor seating.
The coffee is good, the pastries rock, the baristas so far have all been very nice, very professional, courteous, etc. A great location to meet up with a couple of friends, pull out a laptop for some work, or...
