Grabbed a quick lunch while in Old Colorado City. 10/10 quick, good, and cute!

Wish I could have gotten a chance to try this place but the brief phone conversation went so poorly that I'm not sure I'd be motivated to visit. I called at 4pm inquiring about possibly ordering a custom ice cream cake, like they advertise on their website. The first person who answered sounded like a young kid so he passed the phone onto someone else. The guy who took over the phone just gruffly said "yeah...?" in a tone that seemed both confused and bothered. I politely greeted him and asked about the custom ice cream cakes. First thing he said defensively was that they required 48 hours and then asked me when I needed it. I had told him around 11 on Thursday but also kindly let him know that their website currently states that only 24hrs is required. He again seemed irritated to even be speaking to me and only repeated "no, 48". And thinking about it, if I had just changed my request to 5 hours later, it would be in the 48 hour window. But from his "friendly" tone and obvious willingness to be excited to help figure out this potential order, I figured best not to push it and just let him know their website might need to be updated. Bummer. I'm not sure if they don't traditionally get custom orders or if they were just busy and I called at an inconvenient time, but I certainly didn't feel like they wanted to create this potential cake so no sense in trying to figure it out. Hope other people have better interactions than I did! Edit: It's been exactly 1 week since I called and considering the person on the phone *insisted* they needed 48 Hours, their website continues to say only 24. I added a screenshot from viewing it right now ♡

********Response to owner: If that was actually the case then the scale would read the tear weight instead of zero. I work in an industry that is HIGHLY regulated and we use a state scale everyday. . You tear what goes on then weigh the product. Not charge the consumer for the bag or plastic cone holder. If this was the case, the proof wouldn’t be in the videos and pictures showing you are ripping us off. The ice cream is good but getting ripped off is not something I enjoy. The ice cream is sold by the weight. The scale sits at zero before even putting the plastic cone holder onto the STATE CERTIFIED SCAL. Check this, I bought two bowls and they even put the bowls on the plastic cone holder just so it is heavier. The two bowls would have easily fit onto the scale as is. This is a scam. When customers start to realize they are getting ripped off they won’t want to shop small business’s like this. The ice cream is good, it’s not that expensive until you pay for the plastic cone holder that you don’t get to keep. The owner should know that this scale is regulated by the state. . . Charging people for a weight we actually didn’t receive is unethical & misleading. Also false advertising when you say it’s by weight but don’t have the plastic cone holders weight removed. Why do that to your loyal customers?

Wow, we just got fleeced!!! There are no prices here per scoop. No, they price their ice cream at $.073 per oz. That should have been a clue that we were about to get robbed, but hey, it's vacation and the kids want ice cream.

At any rate, the ice cream is only half decent and not very creamy which seems to indicate they don't actually use quality cream. I had strawberry cheesecake (with a modest side of ice crystals) and the family had snickerdoodlle, cake batter, and Pike's Peak path. Of the four, the snickerdoodle was the best (fair sized chunks of Snickers in a rather pedestrian vanilla ice cream), but truthfully, I've had far better ice cream for far less money. Handel's back home offers a 4 scoop (the amount we purchased tonight) sampler for $4.75 and they use rich cream and have almost 30 flavors!

Furthermore, you can buy a quart of quality ice cream at your local grocer for $3-6 pending whether or not you have a coupon or it's on sale. We spent $19.28 for 24 oz. -- 8 oz. shy of a quart!!! Given, the prices are probably priced for tourists in a town that sees lots of summer tourists with the nearby Garden of the Gods, but this is one place we won't be returning to...
