I LOVE small theatre!
Having seen a few productions at Springs Ensemble Theatre, I think the people are amazingly nice, the actors are great, and ... they pick depressing pieces to produce. The happiest ending I've seen here was the two wives (not to each other) who started kissing at the end.
I don't plan to see Life Sucks, their next production.
I was disappointed that their COVID precautions were enforced with "if you say your vaccinated, that's good enough": From their website: "Note on COVID-19 Precautions: Audience capacity has been reduced to 25 for safety. All audience members must be vaccinated or have had a negative COVID-19 test within the past 48 hours. Masks are required while inside SET. Concessions will not be available. All actors have been vaccinated against COVID-19 , take weekly tests for SARS-CoV-2, and will not wear masks while performing."

Read moreI had no idea this place even existed. A friend mentioned it, and we thought we'd check it out. The tickets were very reasonable, $15 a piece. We have attended two shows. Proof and Ripcord. We did go to the Sunday matinee showings, but they have evenings, too. The atmosphere is great. Everyone really gets into the play, and the acting is exceptional. The seating is very comfortable. They even had this great couch, and we were able to sit there at the second show we went to. We didn't have food but we did have drinks. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. They are off for the summer, but we'll be going back in the fall. I would definitely recommend...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed the excellent production of The Shark is Broken. The 3-man cast portraying the Jaws cast Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfus, and Roy Scheider gave a riveting performance. Their mannerisms and voices so closely emulated their respective characters that you felt like you were a fly on the wall of the Orca. I am constantly impressed by the quality of talent here in Colorado Springs. The venue, Fifty-niner Speakeasy, is intimate and offers a fine selection of eats and...
