Where to start. We actually saw this place on our way to another restaurant and decided to stop here instead. The front of house was friendly and inviting.
The server. Not so much. My Fiance went to the bathroom after we were seated and that's when the waiter came. I ordered us 2 waters and our son a kids sprite. She had to check twice to make sure we wanted water's. And a third time that's we needed a "kids" sprite.
She brought water's and his sprite and we ordered the olive tapenade.
It's was salty. Like it was 90% green olive juice and 5 black olives chopped up. Then thinned with water straight from the Red Sea. I ate two bites before I quit.
We ordered Mac and cheese and applesauce, and one meatball on the side for our son. She ordered the special which was Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, a salad for the side, and it was supposed to come with bread(she never got the bread). I'm a simple man and ordered the cheesesticks with pepperoni.
When we gave her my order. The waiter looked dumbfounded. Like she didn't know what to do. Ok. Another questionable interaction. But it is a strange order so not a surprise. She came back to double check I wanted that as my entrée. Yes. I do.
Now the food.
Her salad was dressed with pesto dressing. She couldn't eat it because it tasted like nothing but pesto on wilted salad. They did replace it with thousand island which was better but the Lettuce was still just as wilted and at the end of its life cycle.
Her entrée came out first from some food runners who also tried to give us three other plates of food that was for another table. (The food was for the table next to us which they got 5 minutes later when their waiter brought it back out to them.) Shrimp was cooked fine. No flavor even with the sauce. Noodles were cooked fine as well. The flavor was weak and didn't really pop. Especially in comparison to there overly pesto salad dressing.
10 minutes later the waiter brings his Mac and cheese and applesauce out. She notices I don't have my food. He took one bite and didn't want to touch his Mac and cheese, applesauce or meatball again. He did eat some of the Fettuccine.
Comes back 5 minutes later with cheesestick but no pepperoni on it(mind you this is an option that they offer for 2$ extra) She takes it back and 5 minutes later I finally get my plate of food. I ate one piece. The sticks were fine but the marinara was horrible. I would have rather ate store brand tomatoe paste.
We decided at this time to leave and go to another restaurant. Our appetites had not been remotely satiated. And our hopes were dashed for a decent meal there.
We did get Togo boxes for the breadsticks and the rest of the Fettuccine. The boxes are more like kids play toys. I was able to put two cheesesticks of the 9 I had left in to one box. We had to laugh at this joke. And this restaurant.
Personally we will never go back. And actually will go as far to tell our family and friends not to as well.
The one positive note is they do have Italian cream sodas. I ordered a blackberry cream soda. After it came out I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious creamy texture and the blackberry flavor that accompanied it. Will I go there again for just...
Read moreA family favorite! So excited for them to finally come to the Springs! My first visit was as a child at the Spokane location. Been enjoying and visiting many locations ever since! 😍 My order has been the same forever! Mizithra cheese spaghetti and browned butter, a side of mushroom sauce, salad with creamy pesto and spumoni ice cream for dessert! The hubs gets spaghetti and meatballs! And, I must say they have the best meatballs ever! My girls order adult sized Mac and cheese and spinach and cheese ravioli. Lately, we love their cheesy garlic bread too! The Italian cream sodas are awesome too. Great family place, wonderful vintage vibe with antique chandeliers, beds, stained glass windows and an adorable trolley to sit in. 😍
Updated: Went again Friday night! So yummy! I actually tried the garlic mizithra and added a meatball, it was delicious! I want to say this OSF does have a different vibe than other OSF’s. It seems more modern somehow. I like it!
2 things they need to improve on. Our salads come with very little dressing and I have to ask for more. I guess it’s a way to save money, but since I’ve come for over 40 years, there’s definitely a difference. Also, both times we’ve come, we order their cheesy garlic bread, which is divine! However, they didn’t bring out the other bread until I asked the first time and very late the second time. With as many employees as they have running the food out, it’s just odd. Maybe they are saving money that way too, by not automatically giving you that bread. Some people didn’t eat the cheesy bread and opted for the other, so that can be better.
Also, I am sad they are no longer serving raspberry iced tea. There are other lovely choices, but it was my favorite!
My daughter is heartbroken that she can no longer order her beloved Mac n cheese in adult size! For whatever reason this location will not be accommodating to this request. They were able to our first visit, but no more! She’s been ordering it her entire life, she’s now 19.
We still love them! And, my hubby thinks they have the best meatballs in the world! Will be back many times. Very happy to have...
Read moreFirst time visitor and it left a lot to be desired. The paper menus, plastic cups, silly straws and paper napkins just give it a different feel than we thought it would have and the service was lacking. We made a reservation for the three of us and still had to wait, it would have made an absolute difference to be able to be seated immediately, hence making a reservation prior. When we were sat we noticed a lot of empty seating, seemed like our table was ready we just had to wait for no reason, people without reservations continued coming in and waiting the same amount we did. We had two lovely servers both starting with "A" s, both very nice however the service was not what we hoped. We were disappointed at our ignored empty cups, we had to ask for our water to be refilled multiple times as well as asking for them to clear our soup plates once our dinner arrived. The food itself was okay, I was really waiting to be hit with some authentic Italian flavors as they imply but it was all pretty standard and underwhelming. With your entree you get a bread, a choice of soup or salad and a dessert option spunoni or vanilla ice cream. The bread had good texture, menu didn't specify if you are limited to just one per table but we were not offered anymore during our entree. The spinach cheese ravioli was okay, flavors were subtle and I decided to scrape the marinara off most of it so I could taste the ravioli and not just marinara sauce. Ordered a side of meatballs for our toddler and the size of them was great we had some left to take home. My husband ordered the chicken marsala and said it was good. I think our favorite part of the meal was the minestrone soup because the spunoni was also lacking, we expected the ice cream to have pieces of nuts or cherry inside taking it over the top, it tasted like cherry but nothing else. The price of the entree ranges from $20-$30 it is nice that it includes soup or salad and dessert (ice cream) however with that and the website asking to make reservations we were expecting a little more than just a casual...
