Despite nearly all other restaurants being closed on Christmas Day, Waffle House was not only open, but it far exceeded my groups expectations. The service was fast even though the place was packed. We didn't even have to wait for seating since we were willing to take the 6 barstool seats that happened to open up as we arrived! The service was friendly and fast even though everyone in town seemed to be there since virtually nothing is open on Christmas Day (even many churches, but I digress). The waiter was efficient and had an excellent memory getting our order perfect from memory. I like that you can see your food being cooked. This makes me happy since I observed the cooks following all food safety protocols. The food was delicious and we all thought the service was fast and the food tasted excellent! We ordered both breakfast and dinner items and all were delicious. Our waiter refilled it drinks without us needing to ask and was on point with excellent people should and fast service. The place has a diner atmosphere, which I enjoyed. The place was kept clean-- even the restrooms-- despite how busy it was. There were people of all walks of life enjoying food on Christmas in a bustling atmosphere of warmth and peace. The music was tasteful and played quietly in the background so we were able to enjoy conversation during our meal. Service was quick despite the packed restaurant. I highly recommend this particular Waffle House for great food, quick professional service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. If you are looking for casual dining at an average price point and still expect to be wowed this is the right...
Read moreI was at Austin Bluffs WH yesterday for my "crave." We have NONE in Pueblo but need one (or 2). I've been to many WH and love them but this one was totally dysfunctional. The time was about 1:30 pm (after the lunch rush). The staff working were all about the same age (young) with NO generational mix which IMO is better service. There were about 6 customers in the store with no more than 6 cars in the lot.
My favorite is "chicken and eggs" with double plate of HB with onions, tomatoes (diced), and peppers. Raisin toast. I was told the "chicken was frozen." Believe me that is a FIRST! I should have walked out but I was hungry. I was offered pork chops and said ok. My hashbrowns came WITHOUT onions, tomatoes, and peppers and NOT "scattered med-well" as I asked for: ie, a 'flipped over crust on top' which I hate. The raisin toast was burnt. The waitress left my check (after asking her to delete the SDP) and she did not return. I said to my young lady waitress after this experience: "It appears that all of you here are having to much fun." She laughed (didn't get my critique?). Trust me they were NOT 'slammed' with business.
The service IMO is much better at the Fillmore location. Please ignore or avoid...
Read moreDon't understand why people would give this place three and four stars and then write, "it's OK if you understand it's just a Waffle House". My wife and I had never eaten at a Waffle House. So, we looked on line, this one was close and had a decent rating, "I should have read the actual content of the ratings first". We figured why not try some breakfast here. That was a mistake. I ordered the steak and eggs, my wife ordered a steak and cheese omelette. The meal was out fast and returned fast. My steak was tasteless and looked like it had been boiled to death and thrown on the grill to be warmed up. The meat in my wife's omelette was actually spoiled and smelt horrible. We made our concerns known within a few minutes of the meals delivery and it was immediately taken away and replaced with a $39 Bill... No apology, No can we get you something else, No can we make this right. The waitress just handed us a bill and stated. "that will be $39". And, all the while the SUPPOSED cook was glaring at us with his arms crossed like he wanted to start a fight. I would give this place zero stars if it would let me. Save your money people, go to a better place for breakfast. This one will...
