Let me start off by saying I loved this place, we raved about it and would take out of town guests here. My history coming here is the only thing that saved them from a single star.
We were sat by two hoste/hostesses that walked in two different directions. Which should have been a sign. Do we follow the friendly one, or the one with menus?
We ordered sodas and appetizers. Stating we would order our meals when the appetizers came out. Meanwhile we got our sodas one of which was a watered down version of the rootbeer and a half full glass of Pepsi. The wings came out to the table. This would be the best food of the night and it was chewy and rubbery, not to mention it didnt have the extra side of ranch we requested.Since the food was brought out by a runner and not our waitress, it wasnt until we were done eating the wings that she stopped by to take our order. Meanwhile we had empty drink glasses.
My green chili burger was no where near what I've come to expect from Rockyard. A small serving of bland green chil that was cold, and a burger patty over cooked and dry. I would have sent it back if I wasnt hungry and unwilling to wait. My wife asked how my dinner was but she had a strange tone about it. When I asked how hers was she said it was "horrible" and was nothing like shes had there. She opened the sandwich and showed me. The bacon was soggy, the tomatoes were limp and grainy from being to cold. They have switched from avocado to a guacamole paste, and aging were stiffed on the request for extra ranch. Good thing we didnt want what we asked for. After sitting and waiting for what seemed like forever the waitress came and my wife requested that she remove the meal from the ticket. She took the plate away with out asking if we would like it remade, or something else. We waited another ten minutes, my wife with no plate and mine was empty, before the waitress returned and asked if we wanted dessert. At this point we're done, give us the check and let us get out of here. It takes another ten minutes to get the check and the waitress makes a point to tell us she got the meal taken off. We paid the check and left. On the way out I stopped to tell the manager about how bad it was and he said he wish he would have caught us before we were leaving and offered to get us a fresh sandwich. In other restaurants the manager stops by tables to see how the meal is going rather than waiting to fend off complaints.
I honestly began to wonder if we were about to be a part in Gordon Ramsey 24 hours to hell and back.
Much like other reviews I can agree something has happened in the last year that has lead to the downfall of a once amazing restaurant and brewery.
Based on tonight's visit it is highly unlikely we will return...
Read moreIf you’re looking for great craft beer, an awesome friendly atmosphere, and food that goes above and beyond what you expect from a bar, then the Rockyard Brewing Company should be at the top of your restaurants and bars to try list. Be prepared for it to be at the top of your restaurants and bars to frequently return to list once you’ve experienced what they have to offer.
The staff is incredibly friendly and in a great mood whether they just clocked in or are in the last ten minutes of their shift. I don’t know how they do it but they come in every day excited to provide a welcoming vibe and ensure your experience is the highlight of your day or evening. If you go at least a few times in a few months they’ll even greet you by name every time you walk in.
Don’t be afraid to try the food. Most craft breweries with a dining room focus on the beer and allow their food to be underwhelming as a result but the Rockyard team puts as much love and dedication into every menu item as they do into their legendary beer. I’ve been coming here for ten years, have tried almost everything on the menu, and have never had a meal that was anything less than the best meal of my week. Definitely try The Firebird and the Ghost Pepper Mac and Cheese if you can handle some heat.
The biggest reason to keep coming back at least once a month is to keep up with their incredible craft brew offerings with new options every time you visit. They pride themselves on providing a large range of craft beers brewed in house which pair well with the whole menu, they allow you to order a flight if you can’t pick just one, and will even sell you more in a take-home container when you find a new favorite brew. They also have a fully stocked bar that’s surprisingly affordable but offers a generous range of top shelf liqours if you’re in the mood to celebrate.
Whether you’re a local looking to spend a night out with friends or family, a group looking to celebrate a big occasion, or just a passer-by who needs a drink or a good meal, Rockyard is the place for you and their awesome staff are waiting to...
Read moreWe used to love this place but after this weekend's visit we will not be going back. It's too bad because they have good beer, and up until now, we would've said good food, too. We visited on a Saturday, arriving a little before 1 p.m., knowing that it would be busy so we expected the meal to take awhile. Well, 2 hours later we finally left the restaurant after having received 4 cold green chili burgers, paying $7 for a slice of carrot cake to go that was no bigger than a 1" thick 3x5 notecard (and being told this was normal sized), visiting nasty restrooms where paper towels were strewn everywhere (even after the lunch time chaos was over) and a toilet was overflowing, and having to deal with a sassy unpleasant waitress who was mostly absent during our visit.
The manager did take 25% off of our bill after we sent back the burgers. But, much to our dismay, the same burgers were returned to our table (about 20 minutes later - no kidding) and then not to their original owners. I received one that had a bite out of it where I had never taken a bite (it likely belonged to my mom or dad who were the first to notice that the burgers were cold after having tried a bite). We went ahead and ate anyway considering we had waited well over an hour and a half for our food at this point. But gross..... I'm just glad it was my parents I was eating with and not someone I wasn't related to since I got to eat their meal that had been reheated in the microwave. A very expensive meal that definitely didn't live up to the hype -...
