Hands down terrible experience; I've worked in the food industry for many years and try to stay positive while giving as many chances as possible but this was a fail at every turn. If you want the short- we unwillingly spent $200 dollars on a meal that wasn't worth $10.
We dined outside which was nice, we turned down brunch champagne and instead of being offered any other beverage our waitress stated that she would be back with our waters. Plenty of time passes, water arrives without any interaction from the waitress and she walks off. This was an odd time of day 3pm so it wasn't busy but I understand it can have its own challenges. We eventually end up ordering, but because this is going poorly we order everything at once. Popcorn crawfish, prime rib meal, salmon meal, two dinner salads, and bread pudding. Popcorn crawfish were nice, I'd had them years ago and were the reason we were there. Salads were soggy with house dressing from lunch, salmon was cooked properly but was covered in a tasteless sauce, also came with one side which was "greens" it was obviously the same drown salad mix without toppings. I now have three inedible "salads" on the table. It would have been nice when I ordered my salmon and then immediately ordered a dinner salad extra if my waitress would have mentioned this "side". Prime rib served with green beans and mashed potatoes. Cold, bland beans, left over over cooked meat and potatoes that were pasty. I ordered bread pudding the same time as the meal and clarified I didn't want her or the kitchen to pace the meal, I would take the pudding in any order at any time. 20 minutes after we've asked for a box(the dog will eat this mistake of a once ribeye) it shows up. Its in a skillet with a sauce topped with ice cream and its cold, the sauce is warm, the entire pudding is cold.
We stack the dishes, do our best to make it obvious this is over. We get a check. Not our check. It's obviously the next tables, we have enough time to estimate what it probably is and prepare, during this time she comes back and gets the next tables check without speaking to us. She comes to us and extends her hand and I point out we know it's not ours and want to be upfront. She admits she knows that she mixed them up. Okay fair, she didn't apologize, or say she'd go get the correct one or open with I know I made a mistake let me get your check. She just had several chances to print a new one, or bring us the one from the next table because she just went through this issue with them. She tells us she knows it's $123 because she just saw it when she took it the next table. I hand her $200 and she says she can get change and I replied yes please. We wait. We decide to take turns going to the restroom. My partner goes, no change, I go, when I come back he standing speaking to another guest and our table has been bussed. We made it out of town when I asked him what the ticket was. We both assumed the other finished this nightmare. He assumed that because when he returned the waitress returned to bus the table(which comes after returning any change and ticket) without the ticket or money. I came out and assumed he'd gotten change and tipped her because our table was empty and no one had spoken to me. No thanks for coming in have a great day, nothing. So the worst service was rewarded by being horrible.
Poorly paced meal which wasn't worth eating for $200. At least the sun was shining. Trust me, and all the most recent...
Read moreI’ve ALWAYS loved Glenn’s but we had the worst experience tonight. I’ll be honest it wasn’t out first pick when downtown but many restaurants were closed for the 4th, however we were happy to when we saw Glens was open. It wasn’t packed and were seated immediately. Our server greeted us promptly and we ordered shortly after. I ordered the kc strip with sweet potato fries and a side salad. I asked for no herb butter on the steak as I have a dietary restriction. My friend ordered. A burger with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Our salads came out about 30 seconds before our entries and our drinks were empty. When she dropped our salad I informed her she didn’t ask me how I wanted my steak cooked and I told her medium rare to medium. She said oh good I put it i. For medium. When it came out 39 seconds later it was not only over cooked but had he herbed butter along with their bourbon sweet potato’s not fries. She didn’t offer to take the steak back just said the kitchen made a mistake and walked away. When she finally came back I told her it was a problem bc of dietary restrictions not just personal preference (but even so that shouldn’t matter) I also told her it had the wrong side. The steak was less than appealing when it came back out. I’m pretty sure they rinsed the butter off only because it came back out within a minute of her taking from my table. The steak had to have been microwaved and there was not a drop of juice in the steak or anywhere on the plate. The worst steak I have ever had in my life. My friends burger was rare/raw inside and when she showed the server she said that’s how it’s supposed to be and walked away. I’ve worked so much in his industry and am able to forgive many things but all these things topped with the fact that no manager ever came to check on us at all is appalling. The server didn’t handle the situation well either however I fault the manager on duty. I really hate that I spent more than 30$ on meal that consisted of sweet potato fries and a sad side salad.
Oh and the restrooms were both out of toilet paper and one didn’t flush. If the restaurant had been packed or swamped some of these things could have been forgiveable but it wasn’t and I’m really bummed that this was my downtown dining experience tonight.
Sorry Glenns you probably lost a loving...
Read moreWe went here for brunch and I had the brunch burger. When it came out it looked decent, but when I tried to bite into the bun which was a croissant; it was so hard that I swear it had been left out on the counter for at least a week. I hit it with my fork and it sounded like I was hitting a brick. The burger was supposed to come with an over easy egg and that too was wrong. It was cooked all the way hard. I understand stuff happens, but how hard is it to cook an over easy egg? I know what you're thinking. They were packed for brunch. Nope. Half the tables were empty. I called the server over, who was nice enough and explained my issues. I figured the manager would be over and ask what she could do to rectify the situation. I waited 10 minutes and she never showed up. Ava was her name I believe. So, after the 10 minutes I said f it and ate what I thought was the edible part of my meal. The burger was unseasoned as well. Just throw some s&p on it; something. The manager waited until I was completely done with it before she showed up and was like "I give you 50% discount on your meal." I explained the eggs on both dishes we had were wrong (one over easy and one sunny side up) and cooked hard. She blamed being busy which they weren't and employee turnover. Which that's crap, because why would you hire a cook that doesn't know how to cook eggs at the very least. My meal was comped by the end of it, but instead of being decent to us, we were treated like they were trying to hurry up and get rid of us. I've been there one other time before and it was decent, but it will be a looooooong time before I go back. I know if you made it this far you think I made a big deal out of messed up eggs and bun. It's over $20 for that burger. McDonald's charges half as much and it comes out...
