Jay's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Columbia

Decided to eat here based on pictures from website everything looked amazing. Went inside, smelled good, does need some work on the inside but it was jumping so still decided to to eat here. Ordered, paid out tab, got drinks, good so far. We were sitting next to the kitchen which has a door/window. Now we sat here because it was the only area that was not busy. While sitting here…. I just so happen to look up in the kitchen and the cook (big white guy with neck length hair) JUST SO happens to have his hand in his mouth, picking something out of his teeth… with a glove on. He then proceeds to use this SAME hand and pick up shredded cheese/put it on someone’s plate. I told my husband look look look and we watched him THEN change out his glove (cause they saw me watching) but the damage was already done.

I did not want to eat there. We asked for a refund and they could not refund. Told us to call our bank. Now we going through all this mess with the bank that’s taking forever.

I do not recommend. I know what I saw. They know what I saw because they SAW ME SEE IT. Then played dumb. $50 down the drain with jumping through hoops to get it back.

This bar was... not very good, at all.

First, I asked what they had on tap, and I was surprised to learn that they do not have anything at all on draft. A bar that doesn't have ANYTHING on draft is kind of weird.

Second, I asked if their kitchen was open, and after being told it was, asked for the chicken tender basket. Only after running my card, did they tell me that they were out of fries, and I would either have to get just the tenders or sweet potato fries instead. I don't like sweet potato fries, so I paid $10 for a chicken tender "basket", which included only tenders. In my opinion, it would have been appropriate to either offer me a refund, or at least offer me a shot or more tenders for the inconvenience.

Finally, the bar itself was pretty nasty, with broken seats, TVs that had black spots on them, and a disorganized looking vibe overall. The staff and patrons were nasty as well.

In all, this was one of the worst bars I've been to in a long time, I will not be coming back, and I would not recommend that anyone patronize this bar if they're looking for a...

Tonight I came in after not coming to jays for a very long time due to taking a break from being out. I came up to the bar as It was my turn to purchase a round of shots & I tried motioning the bartender towards me because It was the only way I could get his attention with the loud music going. I did not snap my fingers , but waved my hand towards myself so he could know I was trying to get his attention . He felt offended by this and after mocking me , he ignored me and refused service . I then motioned the other bartender who was kind until I mentioned the other bartender wouldn’t serve me . He then said that is his bar back who is 19 and cannot serve drinks . I only asked him for a drink because he was already serving drinks to others despite being ‘19’. I was refused service by the only other bartender and my card was tossed onto the floor when I honestly never had any ill intent.
