I LOVE "The Oyster Bar"....... they serve oysters, shrimp, crab-legs, crawfish, gumbo and its good comfort food! The food is served in the rear of the Bar..... its a horseshoe shaped bar with servers in the middle shucking and serving. Its very casual so no need to dress up. I like the front part of this establishment which is a fairly small bar with two bartenders serving myself and typically other locals with cocktails and also providing the drinks for the customers in the rear who are dining. Its a good vibe and as a retired military senior, I feel very welcome here and always look forward to going and my time spent at The Oyster Bar. I should note that I particularly enjoy the regular bar thats up front and consider myself somewhat of a regular, They have good food and are quick to serve; however I usually go for the bar and I always go by Uber as I prefer keeping myself and others safe after a night...

Me and a group of friends attempted to come here, mind you we are all 22-23 years old, and this garbage excuse of a man around 30-40 yrs old was nothing but disrespectful and completely refused to even check our IDs, claiming we were 15 and talking extremely rude to us and flipping us off through the window even after he denied us entry for no reason. If you want a welcoming experience, I’d suggest literally anywhere in Columbia over this place because of this one guy, they either need to check their training or fire this person who also wouldn’t give us their name. What a terrific find in Columbia, SC. Walk through the non-descript bar you first see, and enter the back room, a true oyster lovers paradise where the serious eating takes place around a large U-shaped bar. It is informal and fun. They shuck your oysters right in front of you and offer shrimp and mussels as well.
