Munchi's Fish & Chicc'n — Restaurant in Columbia

This place is a unique gem. Went here and got catfish filets, tacos, fried okra and pickles. All was great and the little store inside the auto shop where you check out was so cool! They have specialty goods from Illinois. Might go back just for that. The fried fish was the best I’ve gotten in town. The tacos were incredible. I’m from NM, so that’s saying something. My fiancé said when he ate the okra that it tasted just like his moms! Outstanding. The pickles were also possibly the best I’ve ever had. The things that could maybe make it even better would be a little thicker slice of pickle in the fried pickles, venting or cutting holes in the to go boxes before sending them out could prevent sogginess, and the pricing/menu structure seems a bit wonky. I think it might help if the entrees came with fries, or if the a l’écart sides had a little more in them. The way it is made it feel like it was a little overpriced. Overall though, super delicious and cool experience. I would love to see what they could do if they had more space. Will be going back for more...

Unfortunately, we left before we could get our food. We ordered the 6 shrimp basket with fries and some other side, then was told 15 mins and that we could wait in our car since it’s a small store. 15 mins goes and and when we checked back in, we were told that they had to thaw another wing… which was for the order after us and no relevance to us. They said they’d bring our order out to us in the car. We waited another 15 and the patience for our small order was gone. Nice people, probably just a bad day to visit what is essentially a food truck. It was extremely hot outside. I do hate to leave like that, but I wasn’t chillin another minute in my car. Enjoyed some fantastic & tasty catfish meal this noon. Well worth the money. The food was extremely fresh. The atmosphere was very friendly . The owners son and the very young gentleman Mr. Dimetrion Woods at the counter , was very hospitable. It was a treat to listen to Dimetrion's very inspiring story about the history of this location and its other newer sister businesses in this town. This is an incredible example of how a family in Columbia, despite terrible odds, works hard in achieving the American dream with dedication, faith and self-confidence in ones own self.
