There’s nothing not to love about a moist little cake… well, almost nothing. I won’t lie, these little cakes are usually always super moist and flavorful but I’d expect nothing less when it comes with a $6 price tag for a mini cake.
Today we tried the carrot and lemon cakes. Both were super moist and in similar fashion, the icing was just too sweet. I don’t blame that on this particular location - that’s always been my issue with NBC. A dash of salt would ease that overly sweet icing but I’m guessing for every person that doesn’t like it - there’s one that loves it. So that’s just preference.
This location was quaint and upon walking in it was very clean. Def a plus. The ladies working the counter were very pleasant and the purchase was swift.
Now the complaint, and though it may seem small, it was irritating enough to make me never want to visit a NBC shop again. We were traveling through SC and happened to working in the same strip mall this location was at. Taking a break we decided to grab a couple of mini cakes. I asked for plasticware so we could enjoy our treats. The lady informed me they don’t offer any, but I was welcome to purchase some and then she pointed to these pre-packaged utensils. I was almost too shocked to fully comprehend what she was saying. I just spend $12/$13 on these 2 little mini cakes and you can’t even provide me a plastic fork to eat them with?
I didn’t have enough cash on me so I left without utensils and we went back to work. 6 hours later we took our little cakes back to the hotel and after sitting all day they just didn’t taste as good as they could have had the icing not melted and make the cake soggy on top. I had to scrape the top off and just eat the bottom 2/3rds.
So yea…$6 a cake and no way to eat it. Definitely not their shining moment. It makes one wonder if a $0.05 fork really would break their bottom...
Read moreI purchased 3 bundletts and 12 bundtinis. I was told it would be about 15 minutes. No problem I stepped aside and watched. 2 separate parties before me one received an order of bundtinis and left came back because thewas wrong shehad opened the box because it wasn’t completely closed when she came back in. They took it back gave her the correct order then attempted to give the other part that order as it was there she had been given. They refused it because they seen her bring it back opened. Another patron left came back in her order was wrong they took her order out the wrong one back in the case and gave her the correct flavor. Then someone AFTER me got that order off bundtinis and the cashier said let me check on your I order he came back abs said it’ll be out shortly. I asked aren’t they pre made he said yes you’reorder had fell behind and they didn’t see it. My order finally come out and I left I went to the car and I didn’t want to open it because it was for a gathering the next day but something told me to open it. I opened it and it was NOT what I ordered so I took it back in and the manager said he’ll have it fixed at this point I requested a refund because how are you as a company bringing all this food in and out the door and passing it back off. That’s so unsanitary and it’s not the service I’m accustomed to receiving from your company. I’m a frequent buyer but this experience has caused me some concern. I’m very disappointed to say the least because I left without...
Read moreUsually my experiences here are fine, never prompting me to write a review, but here we are. I came in the store around 6:28, to grab something for my sister’s birthday, as I explained to the lady working. I was trying to decide which cake to get and felt like I was being rushed, but ignored it (they do close at 7, but the cakes are already made, in the display, and all they have to do is put them in a bag).
Anyway, I was deciding if I wanted to purchase a 8’ inch (also already made) and she recommended I get the small individual one for her and then get one for myself. I remembered they offered the tower of Bundt cakes, which is literally just 2 or 3 cakes (already baked) stacked on top of each other placed in the gift basket paper & maybe a bow. I told her I would just get that & she told me I could buy the individual cakes but I couldn’t get a tower because they closed in 30 minutes… Again, confused because the cakes are already baked and all she would have to do is bag them and put a flower on them?
She told me she could however put a flower on top of one of the individual ones I purchased. Just confused because it only takes a second to bag them & the time she took to put them in that brown bag was the same time it probably would’ve taken to put them in the other bag. Grabbed them and left., I love nothing Bundt cakes, but it’s frustrating. Enough for me to still be thinking about it at 8:30pm.
Opened the bag, she didn’t even give me the right...
