When I visited this location on Saturday, November 1, 2025, I was shocked to learn that it wasn’t owned or part of the “1998 N High ST Columbus, Ohio” location.

Since this location was closer to me, I decided to drive there to buy some doughnuts. I was thoroughly lost for words at how this place was run. I’m someone who likes to scope out a place, and I blame it on my OCD. Lol.

As I walked in, I noticed a woman sitting to my right playing a game. Their daughter was sitting on the counter, which was “very unsanitary.” A child was also sitting on the back station area next to what looked like a drinking or coffee dispenser, which was also “unsanitary.” The father, who was also an employee, was playing a game.

Mind you, neither of the adults asked me if I needed help. They kept playing their game. The man in the work area had his pants sagging and his boxers exposed. After about two minutes, I asked if I could get some help. The woman told her husband, “You have a customer.” The man kept playing. After another minute, he came and asked me what I would like to order and he was that he was talking about his game. I said I had a gift card. The woman then said, “We don’t accept gift cards.” I asked if the restaurant was part of the Buckeye Donuts at “1998 N High ST.” He said, “Oh, no. We split from them years ago.” I asked if he was the owner. He said no.

He was nice and gave me a free red velvet doughnut, which was kind of him. The reason I asked if he was the owner was because I was going to address him on how the restaurant looked, his appearance, his nails, and his children being in areas that they should not be in. I was also concerned about the back area where the doughnuts were cooked and prepared, which looked horrible. It looked like black mold was covering the fryer, and I would be afraid it would blow up if I worked there. The floor was not cleaned.

I looked at the pictures other viewers had posted, and this day, I went and looked, and it didn’t look anything like those. I wonder if those positive reviews were from daytime visits and the day shift workers, or if the night shift and weekend workers have a different experience. Because what I saw, I will never visit this...

I bought $45 worth of donuts here. And then it went bad. You know those times. When you just want a donut. This was one of those days. I was north of Columbus. And heading back south. Yep! Missed my turn. Lol! But no worries. I was right on High Street. Which takes you back on 23. Columbus is my hometown. Where I was born. So I didn't mind going through the metal of the city. I was thinking of Jolly pirate Donuts. When I came to Buckeye donut. Which I have passed several times and never had stopped. Today was the day! I pulled in with wide eyes. When I walked in. I was glad someone was there taking their time ordering Donuts. It gave me the opportunity to look them over. Shortly someone from the back came out to help me with my order. I'm a big fan of long johns. Chocolate icing cream filled. Chocolate icing with custard and so on. I was told the Buckeye down that peanut butter and chocolate. Was a big seller. Sure! Throw me a few of those in there as well! I said. Wasn't too worried about how much it was. Again! $45 LOL! No worries. I was going to share. A lot! LOL! I was heading to Chillicothe. To one of my favorite places to eat. New Grand Buffet. Chinese food. In Chillicothe. But! I was still going to have a donut. And I did! LOL! I did stop and eat Chinese. Definitely recommend it! But by the time I got home. I can tell. Something was not right. I cannot have or tolerate canola oil. Or anything fixed in it. As I had to discover the hard way. Years ago. LOL! So! If you can handle. Whatever kind of Grease. Or whatever they used. To fry their donuts in. They were really good. At first! But for me. I will not be going back. I am.An experience. Reviewer. This is one experience. I will not be doing ever again. God bless you and yours. Love you boss! My eleven-year-old amazing wonderful son! Thank you for following. We have a lot! Of places to experience...

I find the restaurant last weekend at 330 in the morning looking for coffee...and the place might be small but they have some good coffee and donuts...but when I went in there today at 230am..yes it was busy..i was patiently waiting my turn and waiting for my food...some guy comes in with sunglasses on walks passed a group of girls that was sitting there waiting for there food also...he puts his bag in the corner than walk passed the girls again...so I'm watching him..because there kids are my daughter age....so he goes up to the counter pacing back and forth...so some guys come walking in and asked the guy was he in line so the guy wanted to get smart and nasty with him...and the guy was like chill dude I just asked a question...so the dude is still getting smart with him...so I literally chimed in and told him that he didn't have to get smart with the guy he just asked u a question..than the guy was going back and forth with me..start calling me names and stuff which I don't care...by this time he gets his coffee the staff is coming from around in the back telling him he had to go...and of course he refused so staff and the guy he was getting smart with got his ass up out that place... So I don't know who the guys were that was the customers and also the staff of buckeyes...I dont know there names....and if anyone knows the guys names that work at the restaurant..they are awesome..you guys did an Awesome job...of getting him out of there...and I totally appreciated it...that strangers came together to get a person being nasty and rude for no reason at 230am to get the guy up out of there...anytime I'm on campus working..I'm definitely stopping off at buckeyes donut...

Pros 1. Great selection 2. Half and half provides good balance for value for money 3. Super friendly staff 4. Good reputation 5. Family loved them 6. Open 24hrs Cons 1. Little pricey for the area We got the sampler pack of 6 large, premium donuts and 6 regular for $21. Premium were huge with some double the size of a regular donut. Selection was large and donuts were fresh and constantly being brought out. 12 Premium are about $24 and $18 for regular dozen Varieties included Regular -various cream filled with icing sugar, chocolate, or nothing -fruit filled including strawberry, raspberry, and I think lemon -buttermilk donut similar to a sour cream one -chocolate, maple, coconut topped -Cherry cake and other cake types Premium -giant apple fritter -giant cinnamon swirl -various long johns stuffed with white whipped filling sort of like marshmallow

I typically frequent the OSU campus location and have always had amazing food and great service, however today I decided to stop in at the S High St. location and had my best experience yet. I went through the drive-thru around 5:30am (7/3/2025) and the lady who served me was incredibly nice. Her customer service was top tier including adding sprinkles to a donut for me that doesn’t typically have sprinkles on it. I wish I had grabbed her name so I could mention it to management but my experience with her service was most definitely worth public acknowledgment. She made my day and set a perfect tone for a long drive ahead of me. Buckeye Donuts is always worth a stop, especially since they’re 24 hours. Make sure to try their breakfast sandwiches and apple fritters!
