As I parked in front of the restaurant, but it was hard to determine whether it was an Indian Restaurant? Although they were quite busy and this is usually a positive sign of good food. I went inside to look at the menu. The cashier (with a nice smile) was very friendly as well as helpful explaining the menu items. She added by saying how they recently opened just a little more than a week ago. While inside, I didn't think the ambiance or atmosphere were what I've experienced at other Indian restaurants with dark intimate settings. It was too bright and extremely loud with the tables close to the counter area. . The food service ordering closely resembled a Chinese or cafeteria style restaurant. The order is placed at the counter, then the food is brought to your table for dine in, or pick up's at the counter for to go orders. Before ordering, I wanted to speak with other patrons who were going in or and out of the restaurant to try to get their input on how they enjoyed their meals at DesiBites. Surprisingly, every patron I spoke with all said how good their food was, with the many menu selections, and then finding this wasn't their first time during the last week then saying they will definitely be back. Because of this I was satisfied hearing the couple patrons rave about the food they had at DesiBites, so I decided to go ahead and place my order. My order was to go, consisting of Chicken Tikka Masala, plain Naan and an Aloo Samoasa. My overall impression of DesiBites is good, the meal was very tasty. My order was about 90% correct, I received an Onion Samosa instead of a Aloo Samosa. Btw, their Onion Samosa was very spicy, only because I've never had one before. All in all, their flavor profiles are quite nice, with a real depth of flavor. My only other criticism would be their portion ratio. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a nice amount but I would have rather received a comperable portion size of rice. So, ended up with a lot of Chicken but no more rice. Lastly, their Naan was probably the best I've had in quite some time, with very its nice flavor and texture. They're worth...

This restaurant has some real strengths. The Irani chai continues to be one of the best in town, and the goat biryani on weekends is quite enjoyable. Snack items like onion samosas, punugulu, and puffs are also consistently good, and even the basic chaat items are decent.
However, there are growing concerns that, if addressed, could greatly improve the customer experience.
The service quality needs urgent improvement. For example, I recently ordered goat biryani and was mistakenly given chicken biryani. Mistakes like these happen, but they should be rare—not routine. The staff often seem disoriented and slow, with long delays for both dine-in and takeout. At times, food is served cold, and dine-in guests are left waiting just to place an order. Even takeout orders have unusually long wait times, making it frustrating for regular customers.
Another issue is menu availability—many items listed are not actually offered, with only around 60% of the menu typically available. This impacts both variety and trust.
Most importantly, the overall food quality appears to be slipping compared to how things were when the restaurant first opened. That’s disappointing, especially because the place clearly has the potential to do much better.
I genuinely hope the management takes this as constructive feedback. With better staff training, improved order accuracy, faster service, and a more reliable menu, this restaurant could truly shine. I’d love to see it succeed and return to the standard it once had—because the foundation is strong, and the loyal customers are still...
Read moreThis is new franchise based restaurant open in Polaris. This is in the same place of Spice 9 restaurant. Desai bites have 15 locations including Columbus.
Location: This is in Sancus boulevard right next to Chase Polaris.
Atmosphere and ambience: As per the name they have painted the walls with different Indian food and other Indian famous places. Ambience are decent enough.
Food: They have wide variety of food options on the menu but as the restaurant is new so some of the items are not available. I am being vegetarian I tried Gobhi Manchurian, veg noodles (street style) and Desibites paneer biryani. Gobhi Manchurian was good, noodle what’s different flavors as it’s street style so liked flavors and taste. The DB biryani was also different compared to traditional Hyderabadi style biryanis, it had lot of different flavors and spices. The biryani was mild not that spicy.
Highlight: The best part of the visit is the Irani chai which was complementary. The best chai here in Columbus. I felt like drinking chai in India.
Must try. 👌👌👌Will update once they open full menu with...
