I will preface this by saying that I am a Greek grandson of Greek restauranteurs. Growing up, I spent a ton of time in my grandparent's Greek restaurant in Ohio, so I always compare others.
I ate here today. I will say this is the best Greek food on this side of Columbus. I had a jumbo gyro, fries, and a drink. Delicious! Now, my critiques:
The atmosphere and vibe in the restaurant does not scream "Greek" to me. There are no decorations or anything. There is some barely audible Greek music in the background.
The space is a little small for the groups I saw walking in the door and it's on a corner/end of a strip, so parking is limited. I nearly crashed leaving because of a dump truck creating a view obstruction in the parking lot. Due to the small space, seating is limited.
The food, while delicious, is a bit high. A gyro, fries and a drink cost me nearly $20. For example, at my grandparent's restaurant, fries come with the gyros. They aren't an add-on. The medium drink lid is a coffee cup lid which is unusual. Looking at the menu prices, I guess it's because its New Albany, it has to be that high, so I don't know.

Read moreGyro City Grill has the best gyros in all of Columbus! This new location will be a perfect addition to New Albany as this is one of those places you can tell takes pride in what they serve. The food is fresh, flavorful, and included generous portions. Their gyro is packed with perfectly seasoned meat, crisp veggies, and the best creamy tzatziki sauce that ties it all together. The staff is friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. The owner is actively in the restaurant and she is a delight to speak to. The restaurant itself is clean, includes photos of Greece on the wall, and you can see your food being made since it’s an open kitchen. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or bringing the family for dinner, Gyro City Grill is the spot that consistently delivers delicious food and great service. Highly recommend, will...
Read moreMy daughter's enthusiasm was truly contagious. She had lunch here today and couldn't wait to share her incredible experience with me, saying, "Mom, you have to go! It's amazing!" Her recommendation was spot on, and I'm glad I took her advice. New Albany has been missing a venue like this for far too long. I had the pleasure of meeting Arnett, the owner's son, who has perfected the art of customer service. The food was outstanding, with generous portions that left me feeling full. Although I couldn't finish my meal, I made sure to save room for dessert and took some home. As soon as I walked into my home, I was eager to try a little more in this dining experience. The rice pudding and baklava were both sublime, and I'm still deciding which one I prefer. Try it- ...
