Firstly, here is the one reason it's not a 5: The women's bathroom/changing area is just not large enough, nor clean enough to match up with how nice all of New Albany seems to be. We change in the car or drive home wet to avoid going in there.
Besides that, it is great! The prices seem to be on par, maybe even lower than a lot of local pools from Columbus to Newark.
This pool has a gated off water play/small kid area with buckets, slides, sprayers, and every. Watch out for bad unsupervised kids, they'll pick you off one by one with the sprayers.
The main pool has a walk in shallow end and a water spraying bucket dumping area, too. That goes up to a 3foot area which is roped off. In there you may have life jackets or learning to swim stuff. This area is quite small, but a great place for those learning to swim.
Then on the other side of the rope for that is the deep end which goes up to 5.5 feet. No floaties are allowed at this pool. At the end of the deep end, there are two lap-only lanes and from what I've seen, the lifeguards do a good job of keeping people out who aren't using them as intended.
Just on the other side of the pool are the slides. One is a body slide the and other is a tube slide. You must be 48" to use. It releases you into 3.5 foot deep water which has a large walk out staircase with rails. Lifeguards will measure you if you seem close to the limit. It is for you or your child's safety.
Like most pools they have a 10 minute break at the end of the hour. We've noticed the slide actually closes at about a quarter til, so make sure you get your sliding planned for 00-45 mins of each hour.
There are concessions which we've never utilized.
There are two large grassy areas you can hangout or picnic in.
There is overflow parking in a field. It is only marked with spray paint on the road as of now, but it is highly visible as you drive in.
Overall, I think it is a preferred family pool, especially for a mom or caretaker with a lot of kids with different ages. It's set up to really easily let everyone get a bit of what they want out of the pool day, without having to sacrifice too much...
Read moreI came in at 5:00pm with my wife, kid, nephew and nieces. I paid $35 to get in for all of us. 10 minutes later it starts to storm so everybody leaves the pool. We asked for a refund or at least passes to come back another day and the manager says they dont offer refunds for weather related issues. She said they werent closed just had to get out pf the pool. So i said okay, fine. I go back to my chairs where we were sitting and a guy told me and my son we couldnt sit there and we had to either go back to our car and wait for the weather to pass, or stand by the entrance. I tokd him my story and he said i could possibky get a pass. Then i told him i talked to the manager about that, and then he saidd oh i guess not. Okay, so somewhere in those two workers dpnt add up. How the heck am i suppose to get a pass then if such thing exist? I mean it must exist if he said so. He wasnt ecen a life guard, he was some type of lead. So right now my kids are in the parking lot playing in the rain. Im so pissed. If you guys are looking to come here, i advise you read "the signs all over" says the manager because i guess she expected me to read all that...
Read moreVery nice pool and splash area for toddlers. Food is overpriced, sign states outside to bring no âoutsideâ food in, although 90% of guests bring what they please.
The bathrooms are disgusting. Very small for the amount of people. Smell like feces and mold. They are in desperate need of an upgrade and better ventilation.
My biggest complaint would be the lifeguards. Today a child had a bloody nose in the pool, and it was evacuated. Lifeguards blew their whistles, but you could not understand a word they were saying. The male with brown hair at the toddler area, I had to ask to speak louder, repeatedly, because NO ONE could understand him. He mumbled more, while another female shouted. Just weird, why have a life guard that cannot get anyoneâs attention?
If a childâs life is at risk, you should learn to YELL. Raise your voice. Please teach your staff to use their outdoor voices. God forbid there was a real emergency, youâd never be able to tell. Put some bass in that voice! Get a megaphone? Otherwise people will...
