Update - downgrading to 4 stars: I ate in and food was mostly good.
Brussels sprouts - whoever decided to put that polarizing of an ingredient (raclette) on that polarizing of a dish (brussels sprouts) is a menace to society. Get the raclette off the brussels, its food abuse. The brussels were undercooked, but the raclette only added insult to injury.
The italian sub was unequivically not served on dutch crunch bread. It was served on a hoagie that had croutons stuck to it. It was actually bizarre. It was as if Ohio got ahold of a California trend. Which is exactly what happened.
My veggie burger was great, yet again!
Parking sitch kind of sucks but I stand by their good pizza and veggie burger. Just stop abusing brussels.
Original review: I'll update once I eat in, as I intend to. I ordered and the food was great - and well priced.
Veggie burger was a great - this is a thicker patty that is softer and has a flavor profile closer to bean burgers (although it has a nutty character to it) than something like the beyond or impossible. Which I like. I ordered mine with the potatoes which were cooked perfectly - crunchy but soft inside with a touch of salt.
I got the beets and while I'm a beethead that always wants more, they good - they come with seeds, onions, garlic and soft cheese. I get a little annoyed with places that just dump balsamic on beets with a glob of goat cheese and call it a day. These are seasoned.
The pricing was great - without service fees I paid 11 bucks for the beets and 14.50 for the burger. Considering many places are selling inferior burgers for over 20 bucks, this is a great value....
Read moreMy 4 trips to Harvest Pizzeria have me fully persuaded that it is by FAR the best pizza in Columbus. Servers are incredibly friendly. Ingredients are fresh and locally grown.
I've tried Yellow Brick and some of the other places - and nothing seems to nail it quite like Harvest. I have had the Almond Pesto (my girlfriend is vegetarian) and a custom Pepperoni with jalapenos. I typically order the latter for myself - but both are incredible. There's something particular about a pizza cooked in wood burning, brick oven, and this joint has it down to a science.
The salad was okay - I have gotten a regular / chop salad twice, and overall, I recommend skipping the salad and just getting more pizza.
Be prepared to wait if you go on Fri / Sat in the evening - I have waited up to 40 minutes for a seat. (The place is the size of a shoebox.) You can't call ahead as they don't take reservations of call ahead seating, but you can put your name in in-person, and they will text you when your table is ready, so you can do other things in the mean time in the local area.
Random fact: I get iced tea when I visit, and their sweetener is either Sugar in the Raw or Stevia In the Raw. No regular sugar, Sweet N Low, Splenda, or Equal. Honestly, I think this is responsible for converting me from Sweet N Low to Stevia In the Raw, too. ...
Read moreJust had an excellent dinner at Harvest Bar + Kitchen. Katie, our server, provided good recommendations, gave us just the right level of attention and she actually seemed to care that we were there which we haven't experienced in a little while. Thanks, Katie! All the best to you! Brussels sprouts starter was hot and cheesy. Pepperoni pizza has pepperoncini to give it a little more kick and was a well-constructed, tasty pie to be sure. But the best part (an opinion seconded by my wife) was probably the Yardbird chicken sandwich, hot from the fryer with kale side salad topped with hazelnuts. Really nice ensemble, that sandwich! Hot to the last bite! Finished with Budino dessert which is just the right size for a light, post-dinner treat featuring salted caramel, butterscotch, creme fraiche topped with hazelnuts in the cutest little cast iron pot (I love toasted hazelnuts so it was a bonus to have them show up in a couple of the courses). Oh, and the restaurant was squeaky clean and well maintained, which I appreciate. We are out-of-towners but hope to be back before we depart. Highly recommend. Place was getting busy at 6pm so looks like a popular option in the...
