The stay was "okay", but well below the standard that we expect for Hampton Inn & Suites. It started with the hotel not having a pack'n'play or a crib for a toddler though the hotel is listed as "family friendly". Also, the swimming pool and the area didn't seem to have working heat or at least not placed at the appropriate temperature. We could only stay in the pool about 15 minutes because everyone was shivering.
In the room, there were hairs on the toilet seat when we first used it and one of the toilet paper rolls was shredded....both of these things did not display confidence that the bathroom was actually clean. Also, there were no sheets, blankets, extra pillows for the sofa bed though there was an empty bedding bag in the closet. Again, this made us concerned that the room was not maintained well by the cleaning crew. When any of these things were addressed to the personnel at the front desk, they were kind and apologetic, but struggled with professionalism either in their appearance and/or their presentation...giving my wife a pile of bedding (not in a bag) to carry back upstairs. That being said, the king sized bed was comfortable and the room darkening shades helped our family to sleep in a bit which is nice with small children. We also were able to create a "makeshift" crib out of the sofabed cushions.
Finally, breakfast was a bit of a joke. There was all of the toppings for the waffle bar, but no waffle irons/batter were present to use and no signage to where they were. The only liquid available was skim milk (juice machine was broken (but no bottled juice was offered as a replacement), no whole milk, or water available (had to go to the front desk and they didnt seem to care that their breakfast was lacking). Also, no brown sugar for the watery oatmeal (white sugar alone was available). There was only one person maintaining the breakfast station and based on the conditions of the station it seemed like she was not trained properly. The food that was available was enough for our kids, but not up to the standard that we have come to expect from Hampton Inn & Suites.
We have loved our other experiences at Hampton Inn & Suites and were so underwhelmed by our experience that we are reconsidering staying at these hotels in the future. We have family in the Midwest and enjoyed our stay in Franklin, IN in August and are needing to stay more often at hotels when we visit family due to my mom's declining health. I could receive subpar amenities at another hotel chain for cheaper, but we were willing to pay extra to stay at a superior experience for our family, but we sadly did not experience this at the University area Hampton Inn & Suites in Columbus, and we definitely won't be staying at this specific one again and our faith in the quality of this chain has...

I stayed at this hotel very regularly for months at the beginning of 2023. Staff was super nice and friendly and it was close to my work. But on May 14th, I woke up with a run of itchy bites down my arm and a few on my legs. Concerned about the breakfast, lunch, and dinner bite pattern, and the black spots on the sheets that weren’t there when I checked in, I tore the bed apart. Low and behold I found lots of little carcasses and one little live brown bug. I immediately called the front desk. And maintenance came up to check. The maintenance person tried to tell me that the carcasses were not bed bugs because bed bugs are bigger and browner. But anyone who knows anything about bed bugs knows what those little shedded exoskeletons mean: You do not just have a single bed bug, you have a bed bug INFESTATION. Also, maintenance never bothered to look behind the bed to see the live bug I was telling him was back there. I immediately packed up my things that had been all over that infested room and checked out. The front desk was nice enough to refund my stay. But I had to get all of my belongings and my car treated so that I wouldn’t risk carrying any bugs back into my home. When I followed up with the hotel about being reimbursed for the cost of having my stuff treated, I never received a response. I never stayed at that hotel again. And it’s been months. But the way it was handled still kind of bothers me. And I would like other travelers to be aware.
side note about having my belongings treated Many months later I stayed at an entirely different hotel where I thought MAYBE I had seen another bed bug. (I’m always on high alert when I travel now.) But neither myself nor maintenance could be 100% sure that what I saw was a bed bug. I had only been in the room for 10 minutes at that point, and this other hotel still offered to have my belongings treated at no cost to me, just in case. Moral of the story: If the Hampton inn had wanted to do better,...

Although the Hotel looked beautiful I can not recommended this place to anyone. The first day we got there we found old beer cans in the drawers. We immediately notified the front desk and they removed them. After that we had two good days but after that whoever cleaned the room simply didn't. They did not leave new towels. They did not clean the floor. In the bathroom one night I had the shower running and when the steam hit the glass door you seen the streak of whatever chemical the cleaning staff used. Just a random back and forth motion not even five times. Didn't clean the entire thing. Just changed the sheets, took the dirty towels, quick wipe to the shower and left. This was for multiple days. We called and complained.
The last day we get the bill and when we go to pay I ask for the manager. They say there isn't one. I point out the sign saying manager on duty and it had a name, Megan [censored]. He says that was the overnight manager and there isn't one on duty today. So I explain the story and tell him the service was horrible and not worth the price paid. He hands me a card and says contact the person on the card. I ask if he's serious. There's a sign directly in front of him saying if you aren't happy you don't pay. Now keep in mind this whole time his attitude towards me had been poor at best. I point out the sign and he just says, no. So I pay, take the card and before I leave I take a picture of the manager on duty sign, take another of the "not happy" sign so I can contact customer service and the guy says, "no need to take pictures sir, we got it on camera". I left immediately.
So here is my warning. The place and the people working there are very similar, on the surface everything seems fine, but both are dirty and not worth your time or...
