Jason can choose any restaurant in Columbus for his special birthday dinner. Every year, almost without fail, he selects the Olive Garden. It is his favorite restaurant, or at least it was his favorite. Last night for his birthday celebration, we were treated very poorly and made to feel unwelcome at the 4860 N Hamilton Rd, Columbus, OH 43230 location. While friendly, our server did not get Jason's drink order correct and forgot to bring his tobasco sauce as requested. She also forgot to put in my take out order and, when the take out order did arrive, it was incomplete. Usually the olive garden will throw in some salad and a couple of bread sticks with a take out order, but these items were not included and I had to ask for them. The person I was taking the order to would have been very upset had I not brought the full meal. Jason ordered the endless pasta bowl. He was very excited and finished his first bowl and ordered a second. Because I am diabetic, I have to be careful at the olive garden. I ordered the steak, which was wonderful, but comes with fettucini alfredo so I only ate a few bites of the pasta and requested a box for the rest. I am also a little OCD so a messy table with food laying out really bothers me. Jase was still eating when l requested desserts to go and paid the check. I had also boxed up everything else that wasn't on Jason's plate. This consisted of some appetisers, a little salad, and a couple of unfinished bread sticks. Jason finished his "bottomless" pasta bowl and requested another. He LOVES splurging on his birthday! He also asked for a box, just in case he couldn't finish the second bowl. I was surprised when our server had to bring the manager over. The manager said Jase couldn't have a second bowl! I was furious and Jase looked surprised and hurt. I calmly asked the manager why not and pointed out that Jase was still eating so it's not like we were just wanting an extra meal to take home. The manager said OK and (supposedly) the order was placed. I'm sure they have huge amounts of pasta, sauce, and meatballs in the kitchen so it's surprising that Jason's food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile, I had the table nicely cleaned and was sneaking a bite of forbidden pumpkin cheesecake. I was also considering an after-dinner coffee to sip while Jason was finishing his Birthday dinner and we talked of our plans for the future. Unfortunately, that cozy, loving memory was not to be made. Instead of bringing another pasta bowl, the Server brought 1/2 a bowl and a take out container. She never asked our preference, just boxed up Jason's meal and placed it on the table. In shock, we thanked her and left. We were obviously not welcome to stay any longer. This is absolutely NOT the birthday celebration I had wanted for my Sweetheart! None of us know how many more years, or even seconds, we'll be able to enjoy on this earth. It's sad when a person's favorite place in the world is tainted and possibly ruined forever... so very sad. I will do my utmost to avoid the Olive Garden in the future. Thanks for making the love if my life feel unwelcome and sad during his BIRTHDAY...
Read moreI live 2 hours from Columbus, and was in the area because I just went to Carmax to purchase my new vehicle. It was lunch time, and my son loves Olive Garden so we went to this location. We got confused getting there cause of course the GPS failed us then we couldn't just cut across from where we did accidentally turn cause of the construction. So the headache I already had from the long drive got worse. We finally made it in and got seated. First thing I noticed was that the exterior of the restaurant looked modern, but the decor on the inside was outdated. The curtains and wallpaper looked fairly old and the booths did also and had some stains. However, that was just an observation I made and didn't use that to necessarily rate the restaurant. I know it isn't staff's fault that the decor looked outdated. Anyway, when I do eat at Olive Garden, I go to the one in Zanesville. So I'm used to large booths and lots of room (Zanesville location has modern decor and has a classier feel to it). I was a little caught odd guard when we sat at a small booth that was really only comfortable for 2 people (there were 3 of us). Usually I have plenty of room beside me for my purse and jacket, but with my son beside me and all of my things, my butt was falling off of the end of the booth. I asked if we could have a bigger booth, and found out they only have less than a handful of bigger booths. But we moved ourselves to a half moon shape booth...so much better! After we sat down, I noticed that the floor felt super slippery, so I looked underneath and there was a huge puddle of standing water. I hope it was from mopping and there wasn't a leak somewhere. When I went to the bathroom, there were also large puddles of water so I think they just left too much excess water when they mopped. Anyway, our server was so nice and accommodating. The food was really good as well so no complaints on that. The salad was the best I've ever had at an Olive Garden. I don't know what he did but it was delicious! Sometimes they don't put enough dressing on and it lacks flavor but he put enough and it was so good! I left a $10 tip cause I felt he did an outstanding job. I would only return to this particular Olive Garden if I took another trip to this side of Columbus for a specific reason. I avoid coming to Easton cause 270 is a hot mess, and I hate the roundabouts on Morse cause they confuse the heck out of me (I'm from a very small area so driving in cities is nerve wracking). Gave it 4/5 stars just cause of the lack of big booths and the huge puddles of water randomly on the floor. Hopefully one day they will get it approved to get it remodeled cause I think it would really boost the look and feel of the whole Italian...
Read moreOK so here's my small novel.... We walked in asked for a table for 2 there was no one else waiting the hostess told us it would be 30 mins Fortunately there was a server behind her that said she had open tables ready for us The hostess then said it will be 15 mins wait and too my number to text when it was ready I gave her my number walked out to the car and promptly got a text saying our table was ready in less than 30 seconds didn't even make it to the car ...so we came back in We were sat at the table and waited 10 mins f9r our sever to come she asked us for our drink orders than disappeared another server came to us and asked our drink order a few mins later ...keep in mind there were 2 of us and we ordered water When our original server came back she asked if we wanted salad and breadsticks we confirmed we did and also asked to out our order in as we already knew what we wanted For my meal I ordered ravioli with meat sauce and 2 meatballs The salad had almost no dressing and they brought 3 breadsticks for 2 people ....not a huge deal but why the odd number?? 🤔 When our meals came my order was completely wrong ravioli with marinara and no meatballs so I sent it back that was followed up with terrible attitude from the server like it was our fault she got it wrong During this whole time we did not receive any refills on our drinks and were greeted with more bad attitude when we asked for additional salad and breadsticks this time with some dressing.... After a few minutes my meal was brought back out this time with meat sauce and 3 meatballs which I wouldn't have minded but I asked for 2 and they charged us for 3 we asked for a box for the leftover food as we were kinda irritated at this point and asked for the check The waitress told us to use the wireless kiosk to pay and refused to bring a check unfortunately for us we were paying with cash so that wasn't an option we had to flag down another waitress explain the situation and be told she couldn't help us only our server could take our cash we waited an additional 10 mins for our server to notice the flashing kiosk and ask what was wrong we explained we wanted to pay in cash and again we received attitude.... Needless to say we did not tip well unfortunately I don't think she will learn a lesson from that and so here I am letting you all know it's probably a good idea to go to a different location of you want to eat at olive garden as this one has been staffed with complete and udder morons that can't or don't want to do their job properly Inwould rather drive 20 mins further than go back here again The hiring manager needs to be replaced along with 75% of the staff My guess is dei hiring strikes again definitely...
