Iâve ordered from this restaurant a number of times, solely because of its proximity to my home. I never expect to be wowed by the food or service, but todayâs visit was by far the worse one yet. I placed an online order for pickup. My order consisted of chocolate chip pancakes for the kid, and the Al-Pastor Hash for myself. Now, I donât eat eggs or pork. But I thought the other ingredients looked good in the picture and would have come close to what I usually eat for breakfast when I cook it myself. Since I donât eat eggs or pork, I requested that the eggs be substituted for an order of cheesy grits and that the pork be substituted for an order or cheesy grits. An easy and reasonable 1 to 1 substitution request. They never fill the grits container up and grits are substantially cheaper than the ingredients I requested the substitution for.
When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my to go order, it wasnât in the usual pickup to go order spot, instead it was behind the cash register, so I had to wait for someone to hand it to me. The line was ridiculously long, so I just walked up to the register to get my food. A person who identified himself to be the manager, very rudely told me that I would need to pay for a second order of grits if I wanted them. I inquired why if they were intended to sub two main ingredients in the dish I ordered. He became aggressively argumentative and dismissive of the logic I presented him with. He then told me that I would just need to wait because someone else was ahead of me ( forget the fact that I shouldnât have needed to wait at the cash register to get my order in the first place).
As common sense continued to elude him on this matter, he called over someone else to help. She also lacked the comprehension skills necessary to have an intelligent conversation with me. They eventually moved to ignore me all together to have a conversation amongst themselves, and reluctantly gave me another REPLACEMENT order of grits ( it wasnât an extra order as it was a substitute).. I left and headed home. Got home and was completely disgusted by the presentation and order that I received. My food miserably failed to meet the minimal expectations I had. There was no cojita cheese at all. There were two slithers of browned avocado slices, literally 5 little pieces of red onion, and a couple squirts of lime crema. All on top of some overly salted potato chunks. I ultimately took a couple bites and threw the rest in the trash.
I work from home and have picked up breakfast from this spot in the past a few times. After today's experience, I...
Read moreEDIT: Changed from 1star to 3. Just spoke with Mike, the general manager, and he was apologetic and assurred me that he would be speaking with the staff to better understand the situation and correct the behavior. He does not agree with what transpired and made it clear he doesnât want to lose my business. He said he will drop a GC in the mail. Greatly appreciate the time he took to talk with me and asked that we speak again if I choose to come back. Thanks, Mike.
Original Comment: The Hamilton rd store has is the rudest staff I have ever encountered and I was there for 2 mins. I walked in without a mask to have breakfast with my dad. They asked me to wear a mask and I didnât have one. We went with the plan to eat outside so I politely said we want to eat outside. The hostess was fine with that but then a rude male worker yelled at me while walking by âyou need to wear a mask when youâre hereâ. I explained that I want to sit outside and he rudely persisted with, âwell, while youâre inside you need to wear a maskâ. I started to walk outside and and he again, made a rude comment, âitâs not that hardâ. The hostess was seating us outside and then I decided to leave. I will not spend money somewhere that is rude to customers. Mind you, the place was not busy! Itâs Friday morning, not a busy Sat or Sun. This society has so much entitlement with the issue of masks that now it will not only affect peopleâs health, but will now affect businesses even...
Read moreFirst time we visited, it was a few hours prior to a flight (during Covid time) on a Sunday and the wait time was over 30 mins so we decided to leave. Now that we moved here, we decided to finally try it (still about 30-45 min wait).
Food was quite decent, not much to complain about. Our server was really awesome (not sure if it's a thing there or just a busy day - she basically just left us a coffee pot and water jug to help ourselves lol).
I was disappointed about my Tri-fecta cause it came out to be a tiny portion of food on my humongous plate! However, the banana nut pancake that didn't come with syrup actually tasted perfect! It was not dry, not too soggy, banana taste was not too overwhelming. The eggs were good and my one and only sausage was yummy. I'm a tiny person so it was a fair amount of food for me and I actually finished it, but if you're a bigger person, just be warned that you'll need to order more food!
Hubs got the Farmhouse Hash which was definitely a bigger portion than mine and that tasted realllllllly delicious! Would totally recommend that. All their ingredients tasted fresh and even the orange juice for the mimosa was amazing. The combo of champagne used (from CA) was a great combo!
So coming from NYC to LA to OH, yeah, would totally come back again and try something different! Just need to remember to get on a wait-list before we head there.
Oh and the price we paid here was...
