I ate a delicious "late lunch" recently [4-20-2022] at Roots Natural Kitchen [at 10 E. 15th Ave. near the OSU campus].
For many years [1979-2000], I had worked directly across the street [on the south side of E. 15th Ave.] at the former Long's Book Store [at 1836 N. High St.]; that store is no longer there.
Roots Natural Kitchen is located exactly where one of the two locations of the former Cord Camera business near the OSU campus used to be; that Cord Camera store is no longer there.
Further east [near Pearl Alley] had been the business formerly known as Kinko's Copy Center [now moved and now known as "FedEx Office Print & Ship Center"]; that business is no longer called that and is no longer there.
That neighborhood is completely different from when I had known it. Thankfully, Sullivant Hall and Mershon Auditorium are still at the intersection of N. High St. and 15th Ave. so I had not been completely disoriented while eating my delicious food at Roots Natural Kitchen.
I had studied the Roots Natural Kitchen menu on-line before arriving there; thus greatly speeding up my ordering process at the ordering counter.
My food choice had been an "El Jefe" "Signature Bowl: [Primary Base: Brown Rice; Secondary Base: Kale; Ingredients: Black Beans, Charred Corn, Red Onions, Avocado, Pita Chips [G], Feta [D]; Dressing: Cilantro Lime; From the Grill: Chicken; Make it “the works” with a squeeze of fresh lime and Tabasco!].
It had been great fun to watch the workers behind the counter very quickly preparing my food, which had been ready in approximately two minutes and had been absolutely fresh and absolutely delicious.
It had been wonderful to be able to visit Roots Natural Kitchen on while my way to several events that day on or near the OSU campus.
I strongly recommend Roots Natural Kitchen if you happen to be...
Read moreThe food is pretty good, but only when the employees decide to include your sauces that you requested on the side. Isaiah told me to 🖐🏼STOP🖐🏼 ordering from Uber eats delivery if I want Roots to be able to correct my incorrect orders in the future. What I actually want 💡 is my order to be correct when it’s delivered ✅ It would be awesome if the employees could be trained 📋 to read the “confusing” order tickets from Uber Eats, that way they aren’t messing up 🚫 a 30 dollar bowl 💰. I think the training can happen, and hopefully soon, as this is not the first time my sauces have been messed up via uber eats delivery. See attached photo. Who wants to separate out their sauces? This was a messy process that could’ve been avoided by using 2 sauce containers 🫙. I think they have the funds for materials. 💵 Additionally: ISAIAH: if you request us order through the roots website, you better have a comparable delivery fee to Uber Eats. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the delivery fee from your restaurant is $11.40, Uber eats was $.49. You’ve got an absolute insane rationale for excusing your team’s mistakes and then trying to get customers to use your website to safeguard their order in the future. I know a cash grab when I see one, and your sauces not included on the side is a shy example compared to your website delivery fee. I won’t be ordering...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic. I think any BYO place will be a hit on campus. It's the perfect concept for students who are in a hurry and on the go. Moverover, chipotle, blaze, and bibibop there's a new sheriff in town called Roots.
Not only is the food delicious, it's insanely healthy and super fresh. You can pick from one of the bowls curated by them or BYO.
I tried the limited edition Lilo Hawaiian bowl and loved it. It was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. I have nothing bad to say at all about this place. If anything I hope they bring more locations to town.
Access isn't an issue for me personally but I know a lot of people who would want to try this but just hate campus. The area is full of construction and even when it's not, I'm not sure what parking will be like. For now I'd say take advantage of the free meters on Sunday and check this place out. You will...
