Run of the Mill Tavern — Restaurant in Columbus

It was a super long day in and out of airports. I flew in for a one day business trip to Columbus and was supposed to be in town by 5pm. I missed my first flight due to traffic in Houston, so I had to choose another one two hours later with a one hour layover in Chicago. I was hoping to catch the Yankees/Indians game 4 playoff game but it was over by the time I landed. I got to my hotel in Hilliard and looked for a place to have a few drinks to unwind. It was 10pm here but to me it was really only 9pm. The first three places I tried in the same viscosity: 1) Closed 2) Under construction, maybe? But definitely closed 3) Not closed but told me they weren’t accepting new customers because they were trying to close. What????

I decided to try one more place, and saw this place called Run of the Mill 0.7 miles away from my hotel on Google. I got there and saw signs of human life! I walked in and Eric greeted my right away, and was super friendly, and reminded me of that Texas kindness I was used to. A few regulars were very cool, and welcoming and we talked MLB, NCAA, and NFL. This place turned a super frustrating day into a fun night and positive first Ohio experience. Would highly recommend if you’re staying at one of the many hotels around here. Or if you’re a resident nearby and have never been here, give it a shot.

You know how annoying it is to work at a local Hilliard bar that stays open for their guests for 90 minutes by choice to go to another local Hilliard bar across the street where they repeatedly close 90 minutes early with service industry people around and still want to spend money? Well if you wanna know stop here. Second lady here to close down way early because they’re wasted. 10/15/25.

It’s literally a week later and another bartender is doing the same. 7 people at the bar and you’re telling people to leave. Who runs this place? Tuesday 10/21/25.

Lololol. I can’t even make this up. Imagine going into a bar and tipping 30 to 50% every time only to be kicked out early because the bartenders are too drunk. And then when they kick you out and you go to use the bathroom you walk in and there’s literally piss all over the floor. Do you need the extra hour and a half to clean up the piss all over the floor and the vomit all over the...

I used to like this tavern but, after visiting recently I will not be returning. I made small talk with the bartender because I am naturally a social person. We discussed current events and the bartender questioned me whether I wore a mask into the establishment. He went on to tell me that if I did not wear a mask upon entry then I would not be served. When I stop by the bar and pay $5 per drink and am expected to tip generously, I prefer not to be given medical advice by someone who serves drinks for a living in a dying economy. What I do expect is good atmosphere and service. That is all. The bartender created tension that I prefer not to experience when just stopping in briefly for a drink. I’ll find a more welcoming place to frequent and I recommend others...
