Absolutely delicious food! For an appetizer we ordered the Barbecue Chicken House Chips (my new guilty pleasure!). The potato chips were delicious by itself and the chicken, barbecue sauce and cheese took it to the next level of yumminess. My husband ordered The Famous Buttermilk Fried Half Chicken (no sauce), mac and cheese, fried okra, and a corn muffin, with Sweet tea to drink. The chicken was crispy, you could hear the 'crunch' when he bit into it. He enjoyed the okra, said it wasn't slimy (I'm not a fan of okra and I wouldn't try it). I got the Classic Beef Liver and Onions, collard greens, mac and cheese, and a corn muffin, with Blackberry iced tea (so freakin good!!!!) to drink. I got two pieces of liver under a generous mound of onions. The liver was tender and tasty, it didn't taste like iron at all. It's one of the best tasting liver I've had at a restaurant. (My husband doesn't like liver but he tried it, and said he could eat it if he was starving- that's a win for this liver!) The onions could have been grilled a little bit more but were seasoned well. The mac and cheese was gooey and had a crust on top, but it was average tasting- it wasn't a boxed mac and cheese, not the worst tasting, but not the best mac and cheese I've had. However the collard greens were fantastic! They were perfectly tender with great flavor. No vinegar taste, like other restaurant's collard greens, but had the perfect blend of spices that actually complemented the collard greens and let the collards flavor shine through. I enjoyed dipping the corn muffin into the juice of the collard greens. The corn muffin was sweet and soft and delicious! I could taste the honey in the corn muffin. Perfect texture throughout the corn muffin. I ordered a strawberry punch cake to-go (too full to eat it at the restaurant). When I opened the container at home, I could smell the strawberry, just like strawberry punch (oh so yummy!). The cake was moist and fresh, and reminded me of raspberry zingers.
The service was great! Our server was courteous and friendly, and attentive to us. And the food came out fairly quickly. We spent about 40 minutes in the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant has a Takeout counter, and Daily Specials. The parking lot is huge, and the restaurant has plenty of seating for all those parking spaces, inside and outside seating.
I will definitely be back again with my family when they visit me. There's such a variety of food to choose from I know that everyone will find something delicious to eat...even my...
Read moreThe server Chelsie was amazing. The one star is for her... Canned, Jarred, Frozen, microwave ready, nothing freshly prepared. I noticed the full plates of food from many diners that left their plates full and left with dissatisfaction! First sign to RUN! I Ordered something simple, now very afraid. A Salad, which I never received, and pasta with tomato sauce, simple enough. Me and my friend, she never received her food. My Pasta was dry, like it had been sitting in the window all day and came out cold and strange looking like someone had returned it, and they redirected it to me, with no salad and I was the only one that received my food at my table-bread, hard as a rock, like it was left over from 2020 and the Broccoli Cheese Soup, you could stand a fork up in it! Whole pieces of Broccoli in what appeared to be Cheese out of a can, gross, I asked the customers next to me why all four of them didn't eat it, they said it tasted bitter and they were disappointed over it. Over priced, Horrible experience. I refused the entire meal, I'll not pay to get Sick! Disappointed. You would be better off eating from a conveyance store or Gas Station. With Covid, the sanitation score is 90.6 this place is a sickness waiting to happen. No mask, people coughing, not clean, tables unclean. Seems Johnny's Farmhouse has only one stop customers that never return I'm sure of that. Being so close to the highway and those in a hurry passing through. They attract travelers. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like, the dinning room was unclean, didn't see one table whipped down. The tables dirty dishes removed, not one cleaned after customers left and the servers, sweeping the floor with dinning customers, because, they failed to do it after each service. Disgusting. I wanted to throw up in my mouth! If you want to get Sick Johnny's Farmhouse is your spot, too attract bacteria and anything eles that don't pertain to life and godliness! Bad idea, worse restaurant every. Not sure where those five stars came from, but I am willing to bet, family and friends beefed up those reviews or they were so hungry it clouded their judgment. Don't you believe it......
Read moreMy family and I visited Johnny's Farmhouse, at the recommendation of a friend, and we were very underwhelmed. We are not picky people - I only post a review if the experience is very good or very bad. First impression - love the theme and the decorations on the wall around the restaurant. The waitstaff were very nice, the restaurant looked clean and we were seated quickly. Our drinks were delivered promptly... but that's where the good part of this review ends. We arrived at the restaurant a little after the peak dinner rush, so it's understood that they were busy. I don't know exactly how long it was from the time we placed our order until the food was delivered, but my son was on his third glass of Cheerwine and there were families that came in 15-20 minutes after we did who received their order and were almost done eating before our order came out. It was also FREEZING in the restaurant, to the point that my kids asked if there were any blankets in the car and wanted to leave because they were so cold and so hungry. When the order finally came out... my wife and I had ordered the same thing, fried catfish, and hers looked completely different from mine. I'm not sure if I maybe received cod or ?? but it definitely tasted like some sort of bland frozen fish. My wife also received less fish than I did and 10 minutes into the meal, a waitress randomly showed up and asked if anyone was missing a piece of fish (?!). I ordered fried squash as a side and really did not enjoy whatever breading was used, but I'll chalk that up to a personal preference. My son ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, which was comically small... on bread that was maybe a little larger than a hot dog bun. I should have taken a picture of the sandwich and the look of disappointment on my son's face, but we were so hungry and cold at that point that I didn't take the time. Overall, I give Johnny's two stars for a clean restaurant and friendly waitstaff, but the long wait time for food to be delivered and the inconsistent quality and portions of food means we will not be back. There are too many other good places to...
