It was a good experience sure. But being sat at the bar next to a family of four in a seemingly empty restaraunt doesn't coincide with what I consider experience. While the idea of having a set menu is understandable, when I pay 180usd per person I expect to be able to choose my own dishes and at very least have them explained to me in a one of a few international languages. (English, Spanish, Chinese). The Kobe play on a cheeseburger was an interesting idea but I actually had to napkin it in practice. Sharp cheddar and warm raw beef just wasn't a palatable experience for me. While I thought it may be a fun play on a comfort food favorite it just didn't get there. The only fish that stood out was the aged tuna. Again, not something I'm used to hearing.... Age and fish...... But however they do it, it was well done. The flair and design of the establishment are nice enough. Eloquent to the idea of minimalism. They accept credit cards and at this price I would think that is obvious. Beverages are rediculously over priced which I honestly felt was the theme of this Japanese restaraunt. Sort of place that attracts the "let's not bother about money" crowd. The scene is awfully quiet as well. I was worried I would either break something or wake somebody up. The food may be to excellent standard bit the experience as a whole for the value was meh. I didn't have fun and wouldn't make a...
Read moreFor a few years this WAS my favorite sushi place not too far from my house. Recently, since they've reopened for dining inside, the level of service has dropped. As this was the highest selling point and trait to consider for this restaurant this is severely disappointing.
wait time was lengthy as if the whole restaurant was open without covid seating restrictions (there was only 3 other tables with customers), waitress took a long time to take our order and then a further long time to receive the order. We believe we saw one of the 2 waitresses take part of our order to the wrong table.
while i was putting in my order the waitress said that should be enough for me... i understand that 3 sushi rolls may be alot but i was considering a 4th roll and this comment was rude and disrespectful, although im unsure if this was intentional or just a cultural thing.
And 3) on the way out after my gf paid they heavily requested a tip to the point of almost demanding a tip because they "need to split it"; after we hesitated then started to figure out how much tip was deserved she then stated "if we dont want to give a tip we should just say it" ,said with an attitude. We left $5 for tip and decided not to come back until covid is over and hopefully their level of service has gone back to normal, and if the current level of service is the new normal we'll probably not come...
Read moreI must admit I had my doubts when coming to this restaurant with my brothers. However, I feel like I didn't give this place it's due credit.
Let me just start giving details to why I gave a 4 star instead of 5. The seating took awhile, it's not like it was bad. It's just that, we didn't get so much as a brief glimpse from the waiters while we stood there like dimwits. There are no seats to wait at and definitely no space to stand. So that's really the only reason for the 4 star.
The service when you've seated, is excellent! Very polite waitresses and waiters. They're English is adequate and they make it a point to get your order right. The whole shop is clean, customers are polite and aren't rowdy. Maybe we just came on a good day? In any case, very happy and flawless service.
Now to the fish, I've never tasted salmon belly that was so delicious. The salmon belly nigiri I ordered is exceptional! The cut is thick and perfect. The slight taste of wasabi pressed between the fish and the rice is impeccable. To keep this short, you get what you pay for here! High quality fish and service for a decent price.
I'd recommend this restaurant to any of my friends and family. I'll be coming back again! Keep up the...
