Curbside first time. Let me start by saying I love Freebirds. Their food is fine. You get what you pay for. They have had really good Queso before chipotle even had some on their menu.
All that being said. The service I received at this location was terrible. They prioritize people who walk in for their food. Which is fine because I am normally one of those people. In and out 15-20mins. If even that. Which I witnessed today as I sat in my car by the curb. I placed my order at 12:10 and didn’t receive it until 12:55. I had to call them 2 times. Being placed on hold both times. They don’t have reserved parking for curbside. The app doesn’t tell you what to do. You have look at the ugly sign hanging there to find out you have to cal them. Food came out to be pretty cold compared to walk in/ dine in. The girl was friendly about it. But friendliness can only make up for part of the experience. Y’all should not offer curbside. Your employees can’t handle it well it seems. Retrain, restructure.. fix your app to help the costumer. And to let employees know the costumer have arrived. Currently your competitors don’t offer curbside either so at least y’all have that going for you. I’m glad I did not tip. And maybe that was the reason I got poor service. But since I was testing this for the first time and they couldn’t get it in a timely way. I know for sure me leaving a tip won’t change. Fix it. Or get rid of it. Y’all were a great company without it. YOUR CURBSIDE IS BAD.
Edit: I’ll be leaving my experience here. I don’t have the time to write more. But management reached out to me and were friendly. So I am happy. I just hope they work on their curbside. Again everyone was super friendly. Maybe they were just super super busy and...
Read moreThis is another Austin-based restaurant that's made it around the state, and it's good. The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the funky decor, including a motorcycle hanging from the ceiling and a LOT of foil art pieces donning the dining area. If you've never been to Freebirds I'm not sure where you've been, but do yourself a favor and give it a try! It's like a cooler, more rocking Chipotle. I could go there just to sit and listen to the music. You have several choices to choose from. Burritos, salads, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and burrito bowls. Of course, they are known for their burritos. They come in 3 sizes: hybrid, freebird, and MONSTER (all caps for emphasis). They have different flavors of tortillas for their burritos also: flour, wheat, or cayenne. You have steak/beef, chicken, carnitas, or a veggie burrito with several things to choose to go inside, or on top of, your bowl or burrito. Their salads are a great mixture of greens! You can choose your types of rice (Spanish or cilantro), beans (pinto, retried, or black), and different items like pico de gallo, cilantro, jalapeños, guacamole, etc... You can get a meal with chips and queso and a drink. They also have desserts that are pretty good. The only reason I bump them down a star is their light serving of guacamole. They use a regular-size spoon for a small scoop of guac. For $2 that's a bit chintzy. Also, I must brag on the customer service here. They go out of their way to make sure the customer is taken care of! We have started coming here more often (I'm trying to avoids the carbs and bad fats of Mexican restaurants) and we've been taken care of here each time....
Read moreUpdate July 29 - This is my 3rd order when having friends over and we've been shorted. The orders have consistently been 2 monster burritos delivered only to receive 2 regular burritos. The feedback options are non-existent, including calling the store which just routes you to voicemail. Don't waste your money on incorrect orders or missing items.
So 3 stars for a consistent issue that I've had. Whenever I order curbside it takes forever to get my food. And not an impatient forever, literally wait, call, we're working on it, wait another 15-20 minutes and see cars just pull in and people run out with orders, go inside, we're working on it. Now by the 4th contact they casually stroll out and hand me a bag of hour-old cold food, no apology or acknowledgement or we remade your order. This happens regardless of how large or small the order so it seems almost personal by my observation. And because I've already paid I can't just leave and good luck getting to a manager to complain.
This major gripe aside it's pretty standard burritos and bowls. There's a Chipotle across the freeway and Torchy's down the interstate so I just moved on to other fast tex-mex options but won't be back unless staff is...
