I honestly had high hopes for this place in that I did was honestly just trying to get rid of som books I had (1-3 year old college textbooks of various kinds). There was not a single book that they accepted which was somewhat expected. However, the reason I think this place screwed me over was after I dropped off books that cost me about $700 I was told I would get a call. So I waited a couple of weeks thinking they were highly backed up. I than called wondering what the hold up was. I was told that my books had been given away for free because 10 days had passed. I was not told this at the counter & was very cordial with the employee on the phone after she broke the news & thought my chance to let the public know of this horrible business practice would be through this platform. I should have reviewed their policy via online or asked more specific questions in person about the books. But I honestly thought this company would treat their customers nicer because of their rating. I guess my complaints will just go on here & the BBB. Because in essence even though my books has no value to them they essentially stole them legally which is just wrong as I was not offered any compensation either. Please do not do this to other people or at least warn them up front? I honestly think it was just an employee who dropped the ball but this still unacceptable business practice. Legally getting away with theft is wrong for everyone & just because your a business entity does not make you...
Read moreI enjoy going in and browsing and always find something. What I do not care for is their buyback program. I took an elderly aunt up to the store. She had a bag of paperbacks [store did not want them because the spines were creased - duh - that is what happens when reading a paperback], then she had 3 hardback books [large novels] in good shape with the dust jackets. She was given 2.30 cents in store credit. They explained they only take hardback books with dust jackets and paperbacks without creased spines. They had turned down the books from the gentleman in front of us and mentioned that he could leave the books for the free bin out front. We did some browsing and I noticed lots of used paperbacks for sale on the shelves with creased spines and i bought a book from them today without a dust jacket. All I can say is traders beware. They are making good money off your donated items. When we left, we did not find any of the gentleman's books out in the free bin. I am sure they were going through those to decide what to sell. I also don't care for the magazine push at the counter. The girl asked me which three I wanted and I said...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but everytime I've gone inside it's been a disappointment. You have the associates to thank for that. Last four or so times I've gone, I've been ignored while waiting at the counter to check out, told "I don't know" when asking where a book section is, and this last trip has made me seriously regret buying anything at all. Thanks to a car accident, I've been tight on money and being thrifty with any purchases. I grabbed a pair of cheap $5 headphones and paid for them using $6 in cash. The girl that checked me out did not give me my change and when I told her she had not done so, she said I had only given her $5. I don't carry cash on my person since I was mugged two years ago and when I do, I keep count of it. I counted it before I gave it to her because I knew I wouldn't have the coins. I explained this and she continued to say I had not given her $6 and she had been forced the pay the difference with their Take a Penny, Leave a Penny bowl. I needed the 25 cents from this purchase for laundry, so thanks for...
