Updated/edited on 12/13/23 - The General Manager for this location, Heather, gave me a call today and we talked about what happened during our visit. She listened and took notes and explained what they could do to make sure this kind of experience doesn't happen to other guests who want to enjoy a night out. She was extremely pleasant to talk to and encouraged our large family group to consider giving this location another chance in the future. It really meant alot to me that she truly cared and reached out. Most places do not do that.
We were there this past weekend to celebrate two birthdays. We had 20 people in our party and made a reservation two weeks in advance. We were put into a back room with the temperature set at 78 degrees so therefore it was uncomfortably hot. There was also another large party at tables seated right next to us. I have no idea why, but they only had ONE server waiting on both large parties! ONE! I have never seen that happen before at this location. I went and politely told the managers that we felt like the server needed some help because he just couldn't attend to everyone by himself. They said they would send him some help but it took several minutes for anyone to come over there. Once the lady arrived, she refilled a few drinks and then left. No one else ever came over to assist him. We had to get our own drinks off the tray as well as the bread because he brought it out and it sat to the side of the room for about 15 minutes while he was running around. Several people in our party never got the food they ordered, but then he brought out their side of macaroni in this tiny to go cup when he brought the checks out. At this point, everyone had a red, flushed face because of the extreme heat in the room. We asked for it to be turned down, but it never was. Also, the managers I spoke with never came back to our room to monitor or check on things. You would think if a customer comes to you and says this server is back there trying to serve 30 to 40 people all by himself, that they would come check on things and see how they could help. The rest of the restaurant wasn't even busy and there were PLENTY of staff walking around so it's not like there was a shortage of people. It was a disappointing evening, but we tried to make the best of it despite all the issues. This Saltgrass location is where we have this large family birthday dinner every year in December. We have been doing this for years and it has become a tradition. After this experience, our entire party agreed that it's time to start going...
Read moreI normally don't leave negative reviews but I am compelled to do so regarding our experience today. We have been dining at Saltgrass for about 16 years and have had excellent dining experiences every time, except for 2 occasions. Once in San Antonio in 2008 and again today in Conroe. Conroe wins worst experience by far.
We were seated at a table in the back corner immediately but we sat for over 20 minutes without anyone coming to check on us or take ouf orders. After 20 minutes another party of 3 were seated near us and had someone serve them right away. About 5 minutes later a young woman came to check on us to ask if we had been helped. She apologized when we said we hadn't and stated she would be taking care of us. She took our drink and appetizer order and disappeared. About 10 minutes later a young man came over and said he would be taking care of us. He took our order and then went to hang out with 4 other wait staff in the opposite corner of the room and didn't return for another 15 minutes. When he returned we asked about our appetizer and when he went to check he found it never was submitted. He ordered a new one at this point.
About 8 minutes later a Manager brought our appetizer out and apologized for the delay. Right after he left a cockroach crawled up the wall at the end of our table and attempted to jump over to our table multiple times. At this point we had had enough and decided to leave. It took another 5 minutes to get someone else over to our table and we told them we wanted our check and were leaving. The Manager came back about 8 minutes later with our bill reduced to $29.00. We paid and left our untouched food on the table and left.
We will never return to the Saltgrass in Conroe. This was the worst experience we have ever had at Saltgrass and is very likely the worst dining experience I have ever had.
I have been in customer service for nearly 30 years and am appalled at the lack of customer service and lack of empathy shown today at this restaurant. I would have terminated any of my staff that showed so little care for...
Read moreI am a Landry's member so I eat at Saltgrass restaurant in Conroe often but was disgusted by my visit today. It was lunch time and the restaurant was busy as usual and it was taking a while for our drinks to be delivered from the bar. I noticed the bar tender making the drink that I ordered and asked the server to check on our drinks. After the bar tender finished the drink, she sat the drink down on the counter. I was sitting at booth directly across from the bar and could see everything clearly. I then see the bar tender pick up the drink and allow a CUSTOMER sitting at the bar stick her straw in the drink to sample the drink. The customer did not put her mouth on the straw, she just covered the straw with her finger and take a sample from the drink. The bar tender sat the drink back down and then the server picks up the drink and brings the drink to our table. I politely told the server that I was not going to take a drink that another customer had sampled, not even if the straw that used was clean. The server took the drink back to the bar tender and asked her to make me another drunk upon my request. The bar tender poured the drink from the glass and started to make another drink in the same glass. Disgusting...After seeing this I called the server and asked that the drink be taken off my order because after seeing what I saw I no longer wanted a drink from the bar. I then asked to speak to manager who advised that she would speak to the bar tender about the situation and could personally make me a drink. I declined the offer and just asked that the drink be removed from my ticket. If they do things like this at the bar, what is going on in the kitchen where we can't see. I completely lost...
