Finally a legit sushi restaurant in Conshie!!!! I normally have to travel to Wayne or the city for decent sushi. So happy Akina landed here.

I've been to Akina 3 times now. I've tried sushi twice and ramen once. The first visit was at opening week. As expected, sushi would be fresh at opening so I wanted to come back to see if the quality remained consistent. And they certainly did not disappoint. Service has been great and still improving from my first visit. On my first visit they seemed a bit overwhelmed. Looks like I wasn't the only one excited for a good sushi restaurant in the area. They were quite busy and slow service was evident. However, on my second and third visit, service was on par. On my 3rd visit, the owner (guessing he's the owner) greeted me by my first name. Akina seems to take notice who their frequent flyers are. On my second visit, they recognized me as well and gave me a complimentary appetizer to make up for my long wait the previous week. It was a nice gesture and you can really feel they care for their customers. The sashimi pieces are cut larger now than my first visit. So it seems they're listening to what customers want and making adjustments. Unlike some reviewers here who judge from their first experience, I wanted to really give these guys a chance. I recommend Akina as the sushi quality is up there with some of the more expensive competition. Service has improved at each visit and I feel at home here. Conshie finally has good sushi. Give these guys a go if you...

UPDATE: Abel, the main man at Akina Sushi, personally called me to apologize for the opening week issues and even gave us a credit to come back for a meal on the house. Not an email or a standard response but a genuine, authentic call and conversation. The courtesy and care that Abel displayed was really impressive. Since then, my wife and I have eaten here 5+ times since our initial experience and have been blown away each time. The sushi is delicious, the staff are all so friendly, and the food has come out quickly each time we’ve been there. Would happily recommend this place as the best sushi spot in Conshohocken and the surrounding area.

Worst 1st experience you could have asked for…I wish I even knew what their sushi tastes like.

Let me set the stage for you. It was a cold, rainy night in January. My wife and I figured we’d try this place for date night, so we ordered takeout.

We ordered 4 rolls at 5:15 to be picked up at 6:30 (hour and 15 mins early).

When I arrived at 6:30, I was told it would be ready at 6:35. Ok, no problem. But after waiting for 45 minutes, I asked at 7:15 if there was any update on when my sushi would be ready. “Probably 10-20 minutes.” After waiting an hour for an order I placed 2 hours earlier, I finally walked out.

Sushi-less, hangry, and...

Overall the place was really great, food was delicious, the staff was very kind and attentive. My only issue was as we were leaving (i use a walker to get around but I'm quite able to maneuver around with no assistance and in fact much prefer it that way) i felt like the gentleman who was working tonight made a big unnecessary production out of moving chairs out of the way because apparently he was under the impression somehow that, despite the fact that I got into the restaurant and to the table perfectly fine unassisted, that he needed to not only shove a bunch of chairs out of the way, but to also grab my walker from my hand once I got out the door and insist that I hold onto him as well as the railing after placing my walker at the bottom of the 3 steps, i had no choice but to use the railing as he had put my walker out of reach for me. I tried several times to tell him that I was fine and that this was all completely unnecessary as it was highly embarrassing and people were staring. I appreciate they were trying to be attentive but please if a customer says they're not in need of assistance,...

I had the pleasure of trying the new sushi restaurant in Conshohocken called Akina, which took over the former M&M Pho spot on First, off Fayette. Same owner but different concept. Fantastic and fresh sushi - I am picky when it comes to simple, mostly raw rolls and they did not disappoint. I love when sushi places have raw scallop. We also had the Kani salad and the owner Michael treated us to mochi at the end. It is BYOB, reasonably priced, and I can’t wait to return! They were doing a brisk takeout business and I overheard the staff recommending to order directly instead of through delivery services to save themselves the upcharge.

The sushi at Akina is very fresh! I went during the lunch hour and was very pleased with both the food and service. It was my first time and I opted in to get the vegetarian rolls: avocado roll, sweet potato roll, and zucchini tempura roll. All were really good. Miso soup is miso soup. Also, good. I will be back to explore more of their menu! They’ve only been open for 2-months (as of March 2025) and I hope they remain in the area. It’s a nice addition to downtown Conshohocken. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. I recommend checking them out. Ramen is good too. I like how you can selecf your own broth.
