El Potro Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Augustine

I've enjoyed my food & margaritas in the past here, (as well as the staff) but I had a very disappointing experience today. My plan was to treat myself out since i work hard too in the service/restaurant industry. I ordered 3 tacos carne asada , but I thought I ordered off lunch menu ( before 4pm) but the bill stated $11.99. I wanted a hot sauce or jalapenos to add , but I couldn't get my servers attention. The customers just kept pouring in. I ate super slow to try to get their attention, but my food was starting to get cold so I went without. I had ordered guacamole, but as soon as that arrived I noticed that it was not with real avocados, but more the mix which I should have guessed at such a low price. I couldn't even drink the margarita on the rocks, way too sugary mix. When a different server came to ask how I was, I tried not to say anything as I do understand being slammed. But I couldn't lie, at how much I didn't like the guacamole. She kindly took that of the bill. With her helping, 'I didnt want to be that customer' and further tell her how much I Didn't like the margarita. I left it half full, ( I honestly tried to like it, but just couldn't) I left very sad today after paying $27 for a lunch that did not satisfy me. I'll try again in the future , hoping that today was just an off day. ...

I am very sad to say that this might very well be the very worst Mexican food I have eaten in my 60 years. The steak quesadilla was almost entirely Gristle and fat to the point that we did not finish our meals whatsoever. My wife asked me if I wanted to finish hers and after the experience I had with mine I declined. I literally scraped all the meat off my steak quesadilla and just ate it as is to the point that I just did not want to continue eating. The service at this restaurant was bad and it just seemed like they were preoccupied even though the restaurant was possibly 2/3 empty. The people who work there seem to be overwhelmed even though the restaurant might have been 30% occupied. I do not doubt the locals come here a lot because it seemed like there were a lot of locals in there but if this is the food that they receive, they must never go to any other Mexican restaurants to know how good Mexican food can be. I'm not necessarily a fan of Taco Bell but Taco Bell would be five star compared to this restaurant. I have no grudge to hold and I was really kind of expecting it to be very good since many locations similar to this are excellent restaurants but this was a total mistake...

Absolute garbage for their customer service. I ordered a chicken burrito to go, but I got home to find that it was a cheese quesadilla. I called to ask for my money back, and Jose told me I was wrong - the #4 was a cheese quesadilla and then he hung up on me. I got charged for food I did not receive. I tried calling back after getting hung up on, but they continued to pick up and then hang up their phone when I called.

Response to comment below: We had to drive back to the restaurant since they continued to pick up after one ring and then hang up every time I called. Their restaurant menu is different than their online menu (what we used). What's interesting is they charged me for "chicken" for a cheese quesadilla? This was a total waste of my time and the food quality hardly made it worthwhile. We used to go here regularly since they're the closest Mexican restaurant, but no way are we ever going to eat there again. Refer to screen shots below of their online menu and my receipt. When we drove back, they offered no apology. They refunded my #4 with chicken, and removed the $5.00 tip we had added.
