We were sat nestled in a cozy courtyard, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez instantly offered a charming atmosphere for a dining experience. The chairs were comfortable, and the table settings were impeccably clean, contributing to a welcoming vibe right from the start. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile, setting a friendly tone as we were ushered to our seats.

Initially, the service was prompt and attentive. Our server was friendly and offered suggestions. However, as the evening progressed, the service quality noticeably declined. After our meal, our server disappeared for an extended period, forcing us to request our check from the hostess. Observing similar delays at nearby tables, it became apparent that while the staff were cordial, there might be issues with service consistency. The manager eventually brought our check, but the overall experience left us feeling neglected.

The cuisine at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez was the highlight of our visit. Most of the dishes were flavorful and well-presented, showcasing traditional Mexican flavors with a flair. Unfortunately, the sangria did not meet the same standard; it tasted more like a pre-mixed concoction with minimal fruit garnish which didn't enhance the drink. The chips that were offered were completely crushed to bits and not worth finishing.

The pricing was reasonable for the quality of the food served. However, considering the service issues we experienced, it did affect the overall value perception of our dining experience.

While the food was delicious and the setting was ideal, the inconsistent service significantly marred our evening. Good service is crucial to a positive restaurant experience, and unfortunately, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez struggled to provide that. With many other Mexican cuisine options available in the area, I find it unlikely that I would choose to return here in the future.

Gonzalez Y Gonzalez offers a lovely ambiance and tasty dishes but needs to improve its service to match the quality of its menu. For those who prioritize culinary excellence over service, it might still be worth a visit; however, for a complete dining experience, there are other venues that might better meet...

The location is easy to find and the selections available on the menu were good. Positives: the salsa served with the complimentary nachos is made with green chiles and garlic is very good, not too hot and full of flavor; the homemade guacamole prepared table side was good but just needed a little more seasoning easily fixed with a little more salt; the main dish was served very hot in a molcajete which kept the food hot the entire time; our server was very attentive and pleasant; the cilantro rice addition was a nice side to use with the sauce; the chorizo was very good and tender

Negatives: we ordered the shareable molcajete which included slices of chicken and steak and served with tortillas the size of a street taco- the size of the tortilla in comparison to the size of the meat were way out of proportion which wouldn’t have been too bad if they supplied steak knives or larger plates; the steak was a little tough and hard to cut without steak knives; the plates they provided to make your tortillas were the size of appetizer plates making it clumsy to try to cut the meat and assemble the taco; while the onion were rustic (served whole with the tops attached) again, the lack of a sharper knife and larger plates made it very difficult to cut into smaller pieces.

I’d be willing to try this place again but it is not on the...

Solo dinner at 7pm on a Monday.

Ordered their ultimate margarita, made with Corallejo reposado rather than the standard cuervo ($8 upcharge), rocks and salt. The delivered drink MAY have been a margarita, but not an ultimate one. They used what looked like table salt on the rim, which had almost completely melted away and run doen the side of the glass, a few single scattered grains were all that attested to the one time presence of salt. When I mentioned it to the server when she delivered it, she seemed confused but didn't offer a rework.

No complimentary chips / salsa which seems chincy - i can accept a charge for a refill, but to not provide that basic and customay welcome didnt seem in line with the "familia" vibe they proclaim.

Ordered the Beef Picado cooked medium rare, the server Gigi said it was spicy, I thought "Perfect!". The meat was very tender but absolutely unseasoned when grilled. The sauce tasted like Winco brand canned red enchilada sauce, without any heat. I needed to add tapatio and salt in an effort to flavor up the meat. The veggies were firm and properly cooked. The tortillas that came with it were warm, but the edges were stiff, as if they had been sitting in the warmer for an hour.

The singular WORST meal I have had in a long time. ...

We got the guacamole and the crispy tacos and I have to say the guacamole is probably the freshest guacamole You can get anywhere. they make the guacamole at your table which is great because it’s fresh. The tacos were good flavorful and delicious. 10 out of 10.

We had an excellent experience at the Gonzalez y Gonzalez restaurant yesterday afternoon. Our server, Hector, was one of the best we've had in years. He bent over backwards to get us everything we wanted. If you're chips and salsa fans like we are, definitely get an order. The salsa is likely the best I've had at a restaurant. It wasn't too hot for my wife, but the heat lingers pleasantly. Chips are chips. We also had the table-made guacamole, with all the fixings, including the diced jalapeños. *They don't salt it so don't forget to add your own, then restir. Avocado needs salt! We shared a steak and shrimp fajita plate with a side of deep fried serrano peppers. I felt the steak was overcooked, my wife thought it was perfect. Only 4 shrimp, but at least they were large. Meat was served on a large pile of well-sautéed onions and peppers. We share an entree 99% of the time because restaurants typically serve far more food than one person should eat (if they don't want to gain weight). Still, we left stuffed and I had to take a nap afterward. If we ever return to the strip, which I hope we don't as we don't care for it, we'll have another meal here.
