Whoever runs this cafe should be fired. I’ve never experienced such bad service from somewhere so popular. Very rarely do I experience such incompetence, especially somewhere that is associated with such beloved IP as Sanrio.
We came about ten minutes before they opened and there was already a line at the cafe about 20 parties deep. It states both in their Google places page and Sanrio website that this cafe opens at 10 am. The Bruno mars kiosk had a sign that they would be closed due to supply chain issues. Around 10:20 am, a few staff arrived with large boxes to restock the merch kiosk. Soon after (maybe around 10:30) they ripped off the sign that said the merch kiosk was closed and people started forming a line for the merch kiosk.
Several people came up to ask the staff members questions which further delayed their restocking.
When they began restocking, they painstakingly rolled each t shirt up and put it in a drawer further delaying when they would open.
The main cafe truck opened at around 10:30. The Bruno Mars merch kiosk did not open until 11:20.
Before they opened, they let all the customers know that the cafe line was a better line to stand in because you’d receive a receipt and could redeem our order at the kiosk immediately after. What they DID NOT tell us was that the kiosk line would take another 40 minutes to wait in to receive any Bruno Mars merch.
After people who stood in the cafe line started to place their orders, there was a second line that formed at the kiosk for people with receipts from the cafe.
There was only one person taking orders at the cafe, one person fulfilling Bruno merch orders who had purchased from the cafe, and another person who was letting people buy things at the kiosk who had not waited in line at the cafe.
What is also crazy is that the cafe has no idea what inventory is left in the kiosk. The cashier told us that if our item was out of stock by the time we got to the kiosk, they would refund us.
Unfortunately the woman who was fulfilling Bruno merch from cafe line folks moved at a glacial pace. The woman who was servicing the Bruno Mars merch only line seemed to be helping two customers for every one customer the other woman was helping. I actually had a family member waiting in the kiosk line but he had gotten so frustrated, and he was not sure if cafe people could get their orders fulfilled from that line, and I thought the cafe folks would get their orders fulfilled quickly, so he got out of the kiosk line. I was wrong and that error cost me thirty minutes of my life.
Also judging by reviews, the late opening, delayed restocking, and poor line management has been happening for over a year. By 10:30, the cafe line stretched all the way to top round roast beef.
There were a handful of people who waited in the cafe line and expressed their frustration about having to wait so long in two separate lines. Some people just had ordered a t shirt and it was taking two hours to get it. One rude staff member responded saying “it’s a line ma’am”, not really listening to the customer that she had been waiting much longer than these kiosk customers had been waiting.
Also, the cafe cashier was wrong about what Bruno Mars stock was available to purchase. For example, she said the Bruno pins were sold out, but they were not. When I expressed this discrepancy to the kiosk staff, they told me that I was mistaken and I had to let her know that she was because I had very specifically asked about pins.
This is what they need to do: Have signage displaying the process and policies for purchasing items. Hire staff to begin their shifts at 9 am on days they need to restock Hire additional staff to answer any questions people in line may have Keep their signage updated to reflect what is truly out of stock (there were inconsistencies among the different...
Read moreI walked over from venetian and it was a good 45 minute walk. I had a full dinner so it was great to do some walking. I felt way better after a walk. I was tired when I got back to the room. . I was so focused to get a merch item from the hello kitty cafe, because there is a collaboration with hello kitty and Bruno mars. It was such a cute collection I know I wanted a tote bag and a sticker. Since everything was pretty much sold out, I only got a sticker. . Why and what so crazy for a sticker ? Ok it was a long 45 minute walk. I had made it useful with wanting to a few stops during my walk. I wanted to go to bellagio to see the Christmas garden. I wanted to go to crystal mall to browse a few stores. I also wanted to go get the sticker from hello kitty cafe. As well stop at ross. So I made it productive. A around trip of 2 hrs and 20 mins. Was it worth it for a sticker. It was absolutely. If my bff is reading this I got you a sticker for your collection and bday present. . Vibe is a hello kitty cafe food truck pop up. It us outdoor. If it's rain or shine, that's what you will get. I love the idea and its a vibe to sit outdoor with hello kitty. . Bruno mars collection with hello kitty, is pretty much sold out for the merch. (NON-LOCAL POV) (I live in california, and drove to Las Vegas for this café. After friends claim “very good”. Although, I have a different perspective.)
This is a great cafe, very cute. The menu is quite limited, there is a lot more they could add, like some hello kitty crackers for the younger sanrio fans, or more character themed doughnuts and cupcakes, as they only have a few characters. There is a lot they could improve.
The cleanliness is not very great either, I would give it a 3.8/5 stars on cleanliness. Every table there had at-least some crumbs, dried up crusty drink marks, or food under the table. Very cute architectural design of the cafe, but will need better cleaning, or frequent cleaning throughout the day since their sweet treats can be very messy. Would NOT recommend for germaphobes or clean freaks.
The pricing would average about $5.50 for most of the things on the menu (as of 2/23). The sweets, specifically the cupcakes are a bit hard and crumble a lot, they are not freshly made, at least at this location. It is understandable that they are pre-made and take time to cut the designs of the sanrio characters they put on top of the cupcake. I had ordered Thai Iced Tea, and when I tasted it, it tasted mostly of water. Id say 90% water, a very diluted drink. No, the ice did not melt yet.
Very cute merchandise, nothing wrong with them, 5/5 on that, regularly priced for sanrio stuff.
Overall, great restaurant idea, not the best at executing it. Other locations probably...
