Spoiled ammonia taste lobster and seafood may be served in any restaurant, proceed accordingly with the situation is what set apart the best from the other. The way Pal Campo address this situation position the new Dr. Phillips restaurant at the bottom, Specially If they are aiming the top restaurant mile clientele with their new location. Upon our arrival, already at the table the waitress kindly asked us if it was our first time, to which we responded yes, my 12-year-old son and my wife were getting ready to have dinner at the new restaurant. I ordered garlic snapper filet while them going to share the lobster surf and turf, my wife said that food are not hot when food is served but we were hungry to complaint. In fact even when the waitress disappeared for long time when showed up she always asked If everything is good. I love seafood specially lobster reason because I ask them a piece after my byte the ammonia sour flavor went tru my noose I immediately asked them to not continuing eating. I called the waitress to explain the situation to which she abruptly argued that she will talk with the manager but she thinks is nothing to do about it because we answer to her several times that everything was good. After long wait she came to said that we are finishing our meals (thank god they haven’t the lobster at least) and they will do a credit discount as courtesy at that point, at that point I noticed that she is acting as we were pursuing a free dinner or something like that when she may be thinking that we may need coffee or something sweat to reset the palate that never was offer as continuation of our dinner. Then she showed up with the bill with a $7 discount that I asked to remove. After my request finally the manager decided to make her triumphant appearance with No introduction she said the waitress said that you didn’t like the lobster immediately I interrupted her asking We just want you to delete the $7 credit to pay and leave we are not interested in further explanations. For future customers there is plenty offer in the area for Latin food from seasoned casual restaurateur to fine dinning that we can count Sofrito, Da Silva, Rocco’s Taco, Pio Pio, Boca, among others in the casual Latin offer, while Chima, Eddie’s V, Ocean Prime, The H and Chatham among others fine dinning that represent an outstanding option that may served one spoiled food but they will follow the protocol to ensure that you are safe and leave with a better experience feeling. Suggestion to Pal Campo’s management when spoiled food is served: 1- ENSURE EVERYONE ARE SAFE CALL 911 IF NEEDED. 2- Make the customer feel like you care about their safety. Even If you don’t (waitress & manager) 3- Help to reset palate. 4- Offer meal replacement specially when food is in the 50%, They may still hungry (LOL). 5- Treat children like children, I meant with the respect they deserve. (No one asked him how is he feeling) 6- Find out why food is spoiled. (One hint: our lobster was served with no shell is that your regular procedure? if is it, change your menu shell picture) 7- Report the situation to...
Read moreI usually don’t like leaving negative reviews, especially since I’ve been to several of this restaurant’s other locations and had decent experiences. However, this particular visit was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
To start, we were seated fairly quickly—about a 20-minute wait, which was fine. But once we sat down, we didn’t see our waitress for nearly 35 minutes. Not even a glass of water was brought to the table. We eventually had to flag someone down just to place our drink order. After another 20 minutes, they finally took our food order.
The environment didn’t help—extremely loud music made it difficult to communicate with each other or with staff. When we ordered our meals, we were told that each plate came with two sides. We requested rice and another type of rice for both sides, and the waitress said it was fine. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged extra for the second rice side.
The same issue occurred with the kids' meal—we chose tostones as a side and were later charged extra, even though nothing was mentioned when we ordered. When we brought this up, the waitress claimed she had told us, but with the loud music, it’s hard to believe we would have even heard her if she had.
One of my children ordered mofongo with just shrimp—plain. Instead, it came with onions and peppers, which she specifically didn’t want. When we mentioned it, the waitress just said, “That’s how it comes,” and left it at that. No solution offered, no effort to correct the mistake.
Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly ask for refills. Our drinks sat empty for 10 to 15 minutes at a time before we finally got someone’s attention—despite asking multiple times.
To top it off, the tip was automatically included on the bill, which we understand is common. However, my brother-in-law didn’t notice and left an additional tip on top of it. When he tried to correct the mistake, the waitress simply said, “There’s nothing we can do.” He had to go to the manager himself to get the extra amount refunded, which the manager did after apologizing.
Overall, the service, communication, and lack of attention to detail made this experience extremely unpleasant. Despite having good experiences at their other locations, I won’t be returning...
Read moreArrived at 8:00pm Saturday night and surprisingly we were seated right away. Probably cause all the people waiting outside were large groups so they had to wait for more tables.
After the hostess seated us the server came fairly quick to take our drinks order. Waited, took some pictures, spoke with the wife. 30 minutes later I signaled him about my drinks when he passed by. 5 minutes later he came with the drinks. A can of sparkling water, a small cup of passion fruit juice that did not taste anything like passion fruit and a glass of mavi that looked more like lemonade. At that moment he took our food order (around 8:30pm).
10 minutes later he stopped by and said the food was taking longer and it would be ready in about 20 minutes. At this point I started seeing other tables that arrived after us getting their food while other tables were still waiting for theirs as well. While this is all happening they had a guy playing "live music" and it was way too loud. He was just playing salsa songs from his iPad, playing the keyboard over it and singing. Nothing impressive. Needless to say, between my hunger and the loud mediocre music i was getting a headache.
35 minutes after he said it would be 20 minutes, I called him and asked him for my drinks bill. At this point I didn't even want to ask how much longer for the food to come. I just wanted to get out of there. When he apologized I knew our food wasn't even close to arrive. Got the bill, paid and got out of there at 9:35pm. One and a half hours later.
I'm sorry but a place that can't manage rush hour on a Saturday night is not worth my time. I can't even talk about the food cause I never saw it.
Went next door to BurgerFi and 5 minutes later...
