We have been Dining at Pappasitos since the early 90’s and for the last 10 years specifically at the 1960 West location. I have never left a restaurant review based on a single experience or incident at a restaurant. That wouldn’t be fair to a restaurant. I have worked in the food services industry in the past, and am generally understanding of the dynamics of a busy restaurant. This changed today: This is the fourth time in a row that we have either dined in at this restaurant or picked up food where the experience was entirely unacceptable. 1st incident: we were sat at a table where, apparently the weight staff did not know who was responsible for serving the table,. We waited for nearly 20 minutes before we got the attention of somebody to ask for a server. No apologies, no explanation, nothing. We saw the server once when she took our order, once when we got up to get her attention to refill drinks, and finally to bring the check. Slow and very poor service. 2nd incident: We placed a take out order that upon arriving we learned the orders was never processed. To make matters worse, they argued with me, saying we did not call that store. That was false, as I showed them my cell phone, which was entirely unnecessary. Word to management: don’t argue with customers! 3rd incident: another take out order that gave us cold food, dry stiff tortillas and the order was inaccurate. That brings us to today, Incident #4: yet another take out order. First and foremost, the young lady whom came out to our car, was kind, professional, and sympathetic. She was great and treated us very nicely. The problem was, once again, the order was in accurate. After I finished, ordering the food over the phone, I began to ask the server to repeat the order since I’ve had problems in the past, I was hung up on before I could even get that request out. The young lady who came out to our car apologized and went inside to correct the order. A manager came to the car also to apologize and let us know they were going to comp the food item that was in accurately prepared. The young lady came back to our car with the corrected order And brought us a check that did not deduct the inaccurate food item. By this time we had sat in slot number 6 for nearly 30 minutes. It was not worth asking her to go back and correct the ticket yet again. We gave her a generous tip simply for caring and doing her best to make the situation right. Sadly, this will be our last time dining at...
Read moreWOW. Just wow. We lucked out this evening. I'll be quick on the food because although it was delightful, the real reason for writing this is the service we received
Our waitress Jennifer and her manager Beth were beyond stellar, totally made my husband and my evening!! Jennifer was attentive, considerate, anticipated our needs, was a wonderful conversationalist who had us laughing and talking like with a close friend. She helped me create a margarita to scratch my taste itch and was perfect with her recommendations. Literallt handeled each of her 6 or so tables like each was her only one. She only works there Fridays so please ask for her if you go then, you will thank yourself honestly. Beth joined us towards the end of the evening and was kind and authentic in all of her questions and recalled person details that Jennifer had relayed to her so she could ask us about our evening. That to me is so WOW for customer service. Totally blown out of the water for a date night and I would come back for these two alone in a heartbeat.
On the food: At the recommendation (and off menu creation) of Jennifer, i had a spicy mango margaritas that was a perfect balance of spicy and sweet without being cloying and I could have downed it in a gulp if I allowed myself. We had the chips and chili con queso with beef fajitas for starters: Chips were warm, fresh, light and salted well - the queso was only noteworthy because of the beef which was melt in your mouth. Hubby and I both had the Tulum combo and the tortilla for the taco was airy and addictive, chicken was a little dry but seasoned well and the enchilada was cheesy goodness. Tres leches for dessert and I wish I could eat the whole cake it was cut from. Wet without being sopping, cinnamon and vanilla notes were lovely and the strawberries were crisp and sweet 😋
A long-winded way to say EAT HERE PLEASE, YOU WILL NOT BE...
Read moreThis place is usually really good. The food lately has been lacking. I wish it was as good as it use to be as this has been my mom's go to place for years and years.
I went for my birthday as well and as someone that has spent almost every birthday in a hospital due to my chronic illness, I was super excited to spend one of my first birthday out of the hospital in 17-19 years. And when everyone asked me what I wanted I said, I wanted to go here and have them sing Happy birthday like I have seen happen to others and to my siblings just a bit prior. So we went and my mom asked the waitress if we could do the Happy birthday thing. She said no and walked away. I was very disheartened and my mom was so confused so when the waitress came back by, my mom said sorry but why not and she said we don't do it anymore here. And handed us the check before we had even asked. We were very confused because we hadn't made a mess and hadn't been issue customers. She really never even checked in on us either so we had no chance to off put her. Well, I had my heart broken especially so when the table next to us got a Happy birthday song and hat, then two other tables while we were there. But yet, "we don't do that anymore". I drove 2 1/2 hours for heart break on a birthday wish and the food was not very good but we still ate it without...
